  • JOB PURPOSE

    To support children (Primary and secondary age children with SEMH/SEND and EHCP's) to maintain their education placements, or transition into alternative appropriate ones.

    To support children who have been Permanently Excluded from Education., The main responsibilities include:
  • Providing support to children and young people to maintain their education placement.

  • Providing transitions support to children and young people to enable them to return to education.

  • Providing one to one support SEND/SEMH children, building relationships with the child and family, and supporting the child to transition into a new education environment.

  • Provide support around all areas a child or young person might need to ensure a positive transition.

  • Provide support and advocate for and with families., To hold a case load of children who have been identified as needing support.

  • Create an action plan with young people to identify their next steps.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and information to young people to allow them to make informed decisions.

  • To address practical issues and challenges to secure positive destinations.

  • To work with parents, children, young people, and other professionals to ensure a support package is in place.

  • To support children and young people with all areas of their mental health.

  • Develop resources for the project as and when needed.

  • Carry out regular risk assessments of all activities prior to delivery.

  • To ensure safeguarding of young people.

  • To ensure the use of established recording and monitoring computerised systems using upshot.

  • Providing one to one therapeutic mentoring for children.

  • Delivering workshops/awareness sessions within schools and other outside organizations.

  • Assess referrals, identify needs, and design appropriate interventions.

  • Deliver therapeutic sessions as required to young people through a variety of mediums.

    Relevant Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent.

  • Experience of working in a therapeutic approach.

  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs.

  • Experience of the school system

  • Experience of working on his/her own initiative and work effectively as part of a team with shared and overlapping objectives as agreed plan.

  • Experience of handling sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.

  • Communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, including experience of writing accurate and concise reports.

  • Understanding and promotion of equal opportunities in both staff and client work.

  • Flexible working hours to meet the needs of the business.

  • Driving licence and willing to drive company vehicles.

  • Experience of working with the primary school age range.


  • DISIRABLE
  • Relevant Degree Level qualification or equivalent.

  • Awareness of current issues faced by the Voluntary Sector/Education sector.

  • Adaptable and shows initiative. Has a high level of personal resilience and emotional and social intelligence.

  • Evidence of recent commitment to personal professional development.

  • IT skills - experienced with Microsoft Office and knowledge of the database.

  • Professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth, community or social work, teaching, or management.

  • Experience in managing a diverse caseload.

  • Experience of presentations/group meetings, training, and delivery.
