Full Job Description

The Community Youth Project is seeking a part time youth support worker to support the delivery of youth work opportunities and experiences with young people aged 11-17 years living in Norton Sub Hamdon, Somerset. The post is for 2.5 hours per week, delivering one evening session per week, currently Wednesday evenings., The role involves building effective relationships with young people in a community setting, supporting the youth worker to take forward the delivery of youth provision in Norton Sub Hamdon,Somerset. The delivery involves building relationships with young people and involving young people in the shaping, design, planning and delivery of Youth work provision in Norton Sub Hamdon. The regular weekly session will take place on a Wednesday evening.

· Building effective relationships with young people aged 11-17 years providing social and personal development opportunities which add value to their formal education and their other experiences.

· Actively Listening to young people, supporting young people in informed decision making, enabling young people to participate in decision making.

· Assist in maintaining appropriate records including attendance forms, session monitoring forms, Parental consent forms, incident/accident/Safeguarding forms and contributing to 4 written reports per year reporting on young people's attendance, achievements, positive outcomes progress and development

· Support volunteers during the face to face sessions

· Assist the youth worker in ensuring the youth work sessions are well resourced

· To support with the planning and delivery of a range of activities and participate in leading a range of activities during the session

· Liaise and communicate effectively with parents and local community representatives

· Assist in maintaining records for income and expenditure : Subs, Tuck

· Support young people's participation in helping to run the club and volunteering

· Support young people to access accreditation including supporting any young person wishing to gain volunteering experience towards their Youth Arts Award

· Support the aim to ensure that there is a 50% female/male gender attendance.

· Aim to have 12 young people registered with the project with a regular attendance of 10 young people per session.

· To attend Community Youth Project Team meetings, currently via Zoom and monthly supervision with Project manager, currently via Zoom.

· To attend First Aid and Safeguarding training

The Community Youth Project is an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation which provides youth work services to communities within South Somerset. The organisation is run by a voluntary group of Trustees and a Management Group and employees are supported by a paid part time Project Manager.

The Youth Support Worker will be line managed by the Community Youth Project manager.

As a whole, the Community Youth project aims to increase the quality and choice of opportunities for young people across their communities.

To achieve this, the Youth Support Worker will work closely with the Youth Worker, Community Youth Project manager and delivery community Management Committee.

We are seeking a caring, non judgemental person who has preferably has some experience of either volunteering or working in youth work settings.

£12 an hour - Part-time, Fixed term contract
