Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trust Grade Doctor to join the team on Juniper ward at the Long Fox Unit on a fixed term contract for 6 months.
Juniper ward provides high quality acute inpatient services with multi-disciplinary and multi-skilled treatment to people whose health care needs cannot be managed in their own homes due to the level of complexity, intensity and unpredictability.
The ward is primarily nurse and medic lead but with an excellent and robust OT department with a full timetable of weekday activities. The ward environment has recently undergone extensive refurbishment to promote a safer and more therapeutic environment.
As the post holder you will be responsible for managing inpatients under the care of the consultant. You will work alongside trainees and a part time Specialty Doctor.
This is a well-supported post where you can gain experience and knowledge of working with a range of acutely unwell patients in an acute mental health ward setting. There will be regular supervision from the Consultants and weekly journal clubs and academic meetings you can attend., The main clinical responsibilities of this post are to;
+ To clerk new admissions and complete a thorough history and examination, including physical examination and risk assessment to be documented in patient's notes.
+ Under Consultant supervision, to be responsible for the day to day continuing assessment, management and treatment of these patients.
+ To make regular records in the patient's notes and, following consultation if necessary, regularly update the treatment plan.
+ Attend the Consultant ward round.
+ To take part in the discharge and after-care plans for each patient and inform the patient's GP immediately on discharge
+ To attend the weekly academic meeting including case conference and journal club.
+ To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services.
+ To comply with all Trust policies including Equal Opportunities policies and to promote equality of access to healthcare at all times.
+ To participate in continuing medical education and maintain their CPD.
+ The post holder may be encouraged to develop an area of special clinical interest in line with service needs.
+ To participate in one hour of regular individual supervision with the Consultant each week.
