Full Job Description

Our Hams Hall facility is currently seeking a Transport Manager to ensure legal compliance is adhered to in line with operator licence stipulations. To direct, control and monitor transport planning, staff and drivers and ensure the completion of all daily functions are completed to a high standard.   • Ensure that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced at correct intervals, complying with O'licence undertakings.

  • Manage the development, performance of the organisation's transport to produce an efficient transport service, maximising performance, value, and profitability against pre-agreed targets.

  • Develop new initiatives and look for new ways to optimise the transport service offering.

  • Responsibility to adhere to budgets and plan to maximise profitability.

  • Appraise staff performance and taking disciplinary measures when required.

  • Monitoring driver performance by means of vehicle telematics.

  • Monitor DCPC periodic training and book training courses as required.

  • Responsible for thorough management of all accidents and health and safety incidents.

  • Assist in developing plans for team activities including strategy to achieve agreed targets.

  • Day to day tasks such as route planning, resource allocation and management, driver supervision., You as an employee are responsible for health and safety to protect you and the staff around you. In your role as Transport Manager, you are also responsible for the Health and Safety Training on site and the implementing of site-based Risk Assessments and Safe working procedures. You will maintain a proactive approach towards all H&S orientated issues and always endeavour to resolve any issues arising on shift.

    The successful candidate must have a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

  • Good geographical knowledge and depot network understanding.

  • The ability to learn new systems and ways of working is essential.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience.

  • Using strong communication skills, you will pro-actively approach other key stakeholders within the network to ensure we are operating in the most cost-effective way.

  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

  • Leadership qualities with ability to manage and motivate a team

    Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30 - Must be flexible as there will be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends at times, to support the transport operation.
