Full Job Description

1. To audit the use of core Police systems to agreed methodology and minimum standards, identifying any personnel where discrepancies of access are found.

2. To present the operator and their supervisor with a set of force-defined questions to ensure completion of the questions to an acceptable standard of the system usage.

3. Using a range of research activities and analytical skills, identify non-obvious unauthorised access to local and national police systems.

4. To raise unauthorised use and non-responses to the DCI of PSD for assessment, being prepared to challenge and articulate findings and rationale where necessary.

5. To maintain auditable and accessible records in a manner that is easily understood and retained in line with GDPR and MoPI.

6. To carry out confidential audits of force systems when requested to do so by Professional Standards, feeding back methodology used and findings.

7. Support the indexing and destruction of physical records, under the direction of the Records & Data Quality Manager and any associated Records Management administrative tasks.

8. Through the audit cycle identify any patterns or risks highlighted and to raise those to line management to ensure continuous improvement learning is captured.

Knowledge:

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent, grade C or above including English Language.

  • An understanding of Data Protection Legislation


  • Experience:
  • Experience of working within strict protocols using sound analytical problem-solving techniques whilst recording progress and maintaining an audit trail.

  • Experience of interrogating computer systems, conducting research and testing results for compliance.

  • Experience of using Excel spreadsheets to record and analyse data.

  • Experience of working in a confidential environment demonstrating a high level of personal integrity when dealing with confidential matters.


  • Key Skills:

  • Proven IT skills and able to use Microsoft Office packages with excellent keyboard skills.
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Effective communication skills (including written formats).

  • Act with complete discretion and treat all material and information with absolute confidentiality.

  • Ability to deliver customer service within a team environment.

  • A proactive 'can do' approach in managing situations and people effectively.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
