Full Job Description

The objective of the team is to enable people to manage their long-term condition, maximising function and independence for as long as possible. The service works in close partnership with other health, social care and voluntary organisations
This role will also carry a caseload of community patients who have been referred to the Community Rehabilitation Team and require specialist Neuro' OT input. The objective is to ensure a seamless neuro-rehabilitation service delivery across Airedale's outpatient and community pathways
It is essential that you are able to work as part of a team with excellent communication, organisation and planning skills.

As a result of a secondment, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with excellent neurological skills and experience to join this established multi-disciplinary team. You will be working alongside and be supported by the existing Band 6 OT who is retaining some hours in addition to a secondment in another team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience of working in complex and progressive neurology as part of a friendly and experienced MDT., + Recent experience working in neurology with sound knowledge and clinical reasoning skills use as part of a multi-disciplinary approach
+ Evidence of recent post-graduate training and development relevant to neurological conditions
+ Experience of multidisciplinary team working
+ Excellent planning and organisational skills
+ Excellent communication and counselling skills including observation, listening and empathy
+ Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor

Based primarily at Airedale General Hospital the AIRE (Assessment Intervention Rehabilitation Education) Service The AIRE team is part of our Specialist Rehabilitation Service and consists of a Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses and Therapy Assistants, providing intervention and support to patients living in the Aire, Wharfe and Craven localities. The AIRE team have a caseload of people with progressive neurological movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. They also work with people who have been identified as being at increased risk of falls. The team offer multi-disciplinary assessment and support to patients and their families/carers.

Fixed term 12 month contract, If you are offered a position which requires you to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £41.90, Standard £21.90 or Basic £21.90) from your first full months salary. This is a condition of your employment.
