Full Job Description

Are you a Social Worker looking to work with a forward-thinking team who embrace change and are passionate about promoting and supporting people to keep them independent, resilient, and well? If so, joining us in East Norfolk could be the right move for you. We work with older people, adults with a physical disability and their Carers. We are a highly motivated, innovative team of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Assistant Practitioners.

At the core of everything we do is excellent social work. Our 'Living well' approach is person-centred, based around a 3-conversation model, which lets our social workers get alongside people to help them live their lives as independently as possible, and where they can really see the difference they make. And our superb support culture means social workers can really thrive, with help, advice and support on hand when needed from managers. There are great opportunities for career development, wherever you are on your social work journey.

We've made some forward-thinking changes to make Norfolk County Council an even better place for our social workers to work. Great Yarmouth is a popular seaside resort, market town and maritime port just 21 miles east of Norwich, with direct rail access to Norwich and also to London via Ipswich. With over 90 miles of stunning coastline, unique Norfolk Broads, busy and beautiful historical market towns along the Norfolk/Suffolk border, and great shopping and culture form just a few of the benefits of living here.

What we offer

At Norfolk County Council we are committed to our employees' learning and development. We offer all Social Workers and Occupational Therapists a protected half day per month for continuing professional development and training.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.

We operate a talent pool scheme whereby candidates who are not successful on this occasion may be considered for a period of up to 3 months for equal positions.

You can also find out about the rewards and benefits we offer as well as our other terms and conditions.

Parts of both Norfolk and Suffolk combine to make up this locality. Large swathes of the Broads National Park run from north to south, with windmills dotting the skyline and huge beaches forming the coastline, including the seaside towns of Hemsby, Caister-on-Sea and Southwold. Inland, Beccles and Bungay are beautiful historic market towns.

The largest Norfolk town in this locality is the popular seaside resort, market town and maritime port of Great Yarmouth, 21 miles east of Norwich and easily accessible by road or rail. Lowestoft in Suffolk is the most easterly town in England, 28 miles from Norwich. It is also a seaside resort, market town and maritime port with direct rail access to Norwich and also to London via Ipswich.

Michaela Hewitt, Assistant Director East, said: "You will be greeted with support and friendliness by our team who take pride in their work within the community, our work is diverse, and covers beach resorts, towns, several villages and some quite rural areas. Our work at times can be challenging, but more importantly it is rewarding to see the changes we can make to a person's wellbeing and quality of life. This is often achieved by working together with the supportive networking within our communities. We are a strong, resilient, dedicated team, who care about the people we support. We are a friendly, supportive, professional dynamic and proactive team with a diverse experienced skill set, who pull together and offer good learning opportunities.", We have miles of beautiful coastline and our unique Broads, thriving market towns and a city with a proud cultural heritage.
