NB. Due to the nature of our projects, interested candidates must hold full work rights for the UK, coupled with being eligible to obtain high level Security Clearance - SC.

What you'll be doing

Role Purpose - To undertake Site Engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting of progress.

Accountabilities:

Core

  • Live the Balfour Beatty Values

  • Health Safety & Environmental
  • Attend and assist with daily DABs and SIC meetings on site

  • Review and approve Subcontractors WPPs

  • Carry out associated briefings and safety Inspections

  • Hazard Identification and contribution to development of Safe System of Work.


  • Engineering Control
  • Manage Sub Contractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; providing direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved.

  • Have an input into the Review and approval of ITPs

  • Participate with the management of internal/external design team/consultants to meet project deadlines under supervision from the Project Engineer or Project Manager

  • Maintain registers of equipment and testing regimes


  • Quality
  • Production of as-built drawings & records for every element of the works involved in completion of Quality Check Sheets and production of information for Handover Documentation in a timely manner in line with programme


  • Maintaining accurate records Daily Diary, photographs where permissible, records of site discussions


  • Productivity
  • Measures actual materials used and reconciles with theoretical measure, reporting and investigating reasons for differences

  • Works to Weekly Programme (drafted by others) and marks up progress achieved weekly

  • Contributes to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including reasons for difference


  • Commercial
  • Production of accurate daily diary of resources, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and outputs

  • Produces weekly measure. Take offs and schedules materials accurately, producing accurate and clear requisitions, following through to delivery

    Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately

  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes

  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights

  • Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility

  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners and delivery team members under time pressure, and a customer centric, flexible approach;

  • Setting out techniques ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS

  • Able to report issues with control and information provided

  • Reads and understands drawings and schedules

  • Understands Activity Control Plans and production of resultant information for handover file

  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances

  • Awareness and use of Specification and other Contract documents

  • Able to produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works

  • Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately


  • Commercial
  • Knowledge of specification and contract documents

  • Understands what constitutes additional works


  • Additional Requirements
  • Candidates to be UK National with a valid UK Passport held for a minimum of 5 Years

  • Obtain the following Security Clearances:

  • BPSS

  • SC Clearance


  • The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • Knowledge of the M&E Building Services delivery within the building Construction Industry

  • Knowledge of Defence M&E Specifications

  • Leadership skills developing
