Full Job Description

We are looking for exceptional, committed and highly motivated youth workers who are flexible and share our values, to join the current team and support its continued growth. You will be responsible for the delivery and development of youth work alongside young people, and the Middlesbrough community.

  • The post holder will be based in Hemlington at the Linx office and be responsible for working with young people (aged 10 to 25 years old).

    You will assist and support Linx in developing programs, extending its reach and impact and to share responsibility for the delivery of youth work activities. You will support the personal, social & educational development of young people and their families.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Deliver a range of youth & community work interventions that support the overall aims of Linx Youth Project, including detached and outreach youth work, support to local schools and educational establishments and engage with other agencies in partnership working. You will therefore be required to provide sessional work on certain evenings and on occasional weekends & residential work.

    2. Supervising and supporting volunteers and supporting and mentoring other Linx Staff in the exercise of their duties.

    3. Deliver programme outputs within agreed deadlines.

    4. Establishing contact through various forums such as self-referral, and agency/community referral to work with young people and families within the community as required.

    5. Enable young people to identify issues affecting their lives and developing a programme of activities designed to address those issues. In doing so, young people should be actively encouraged to participate in the planning, organisation and evaluation of all aspects of our work with them.

    6. Undertake effective and robust assessments to identify individual, family and community aspirations and development needs for future learning, career goals, improve their mindfulness & mental well-being and to educate & improve physical well-being by use of the Personal Action Plan (PAP).

    7. Develop and maintain knowledge of resources and provide advice, information and guidance to enable young people, families/carers to make informed and positive choices in their lives. To achieve this, you will be required to work with partner agencies to provide access to relevant information, opportunities as well as signposting & referral work.

    8.Establish effective working relationships with Linx Core & Operational Staff and members of the Board of Management.

    9. Attend all relevant meetings and training pertinent to the post, liaise appropriately with other staff and projects within Linx.

    10. Regular responsibility for inputting information of all work undertaken using Project IT systems, to generate information for reporting the progress towards project targets and objectives to the Board of Management, local management, partners and funders of the project as required.
  • Support the operational team to deliver regular analysis and reporting of performance including external factors, user feedback and outcome/output data, as well as to ensure that administrative, monitoring and other routine tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, with their families if appropriate. This will include working in line with the Local Safeguarding Children's Board protocol.

  • To carry out any other duties of a similar nature as identified by their Line Manager.
