Full Job Description

Supports the day-to-day running of the first and second line support of the IT function and maintains the Trust's systems to ensure seamless and continuous provision of accurate information.
Implements the relevant parts of the Trust's IM & T Security Policy, and ensures that all computer security procedures are followed at all times, to maintain confidentiality and the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
Advises on and configures PCs and other equipment to ensure that new equipment is configured to meet User requirements. Including the development/use of centralized administration and distribution.
Maintains IT systems within the Trust to ensure that systems meet the business and clinical needs of the users and organisation.
Meets agreed service levels and response rates, records all work carried out on the Service Desk ticketing system. Ensures that the helpdesk / service desk are kept aware of faults, progress and scheduled maintenance.
Develops relationships with end users and clients to provide timely identification and understanding of user requirements and enhance IM&T's ability to respond to them.
Ensures maximum benefits are achieved from all IT hardware/software by keeping up to date on advances in this field.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT Support Officer to be appointed within IT Support at Cardiff and Vale University health board following an ITIL framework. You will possess a significant amount of experience of providing service desk support to IT users across a mixed Windows environment within a large organisation (preferably the NHS) using Windows 10 / 11 OS.
You will ideally be qualified in a computer related discipline and MUST have at least 2 years provable experience in an IT Helpdesk / Service Desk situation. You should also be able to demonstrate a good level of PC fault diagnosis (both 1st and 2nd line) and a high level of written and verbal communication as well as the ability to work well with a wide cross section of staff and users. In addition the ideal candidate should have the ability to work on their own initiative and provide help and guidance to junior colleagues. The post will involve the installation and maintenance of hardware and software on an ad hoc basis. User calls should be resolved to a satisfactory conclusion and to agreed standards. As there may be some travel to other sites around Cardiff the use of transport would be a benefit.
The post will be primarily based at UHW but it is essential that you have your own transport and are willing to travel between UHDB hospital sites., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
