Full Job Description

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to take on the role of Science Technician within our dynamic Science Department. Science facilities at the school are excellent. The role will be to provide practical and technical support for teaching and learning across our 10 laboratories, including the preparation of materials, setting up of equipment for class practical sessions and maintaining equipment for use. Science qualifications at Level 3 and / or previous knowledge/experience of working within a laboratory environment is desirable. Training and support will be provided by our existing, highly skilled and experienced, technician., To ensure a safe and hygienic working environment in the laboratories and to implement all aspects of the Science safety policy.

To be available for staff and students to assist them in their work.

To be responsible for preparation of any materials that may be needed by staff and students.

To be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment and apparatus in Science areas.

To report through the appropriate channels any malfunction or breakage of equipment or apparatus ensuring remedial action and the instigation of safety procedures when necessary.

To assist with ordering, storing, monitoring and control of stock as directed by the Line Manager.

To make full use of the information technology available.

To maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour and to uphold the Nolan Principles.

To carry out other reasonable tasks from time to time as directed by the Headteacher.

School Term Time Role

Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday 7.30am-4:15pm

Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
