We provide high quality, safe and trauma informed care for children and young people across the Northeast and Northwest of England. Our work is delivered with an uncompromising focus on quality, ensuring that the young people in our care receive outstanding support from our teams focused on developing their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing and providing them with a safe space in which they can thrive., The role of the Residential Children's Care Home Manager is varied and fulfilling. You will be responsible for managing 1 Solo Occupancy Children's Residential Care Home and ensuring that it is a safe and secure place for the child. We only provide solo occupancy care homes, meaning we will only ever accommodate one child or young person at a time.

We provide solo occupancy residential care homes for children and young people aged between 8 years to 18 years. We specialise in supporting children and young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences and as a result have insecure attachments, emotional dysregulation, and challenging behaviour. Outcomes are our primary purpose and we have developed a service that is committed to creating therapeutic, trauma-informed homes where our children can have their emotional, educational, and social needs met in the best possible way.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage 1 Solo Occupancy Children's Home in a consistent and reliable manner.

To ensure that the homes Statement of Purpose is adhered to throughout all working practice.

To achieve "Good" with the aspirational focus to achieve an "Outstanding" Service under Children's Home Regulations and Ofsted Regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities and Main duties

General:

  • Responsibility for the management of services, including staff management and supervisions, care and placement planning, safeguarding, communications, report writing and monitoring overall quality and compliance of service.

  • Ensure that full implementation of statutory and organisational policies and procedures and provide feedback on the effectiveness of all policies and procedures.

  • Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Children's Act 1989, Data Protection and GDPR, Health and Safety at Work Act and Working Together to Safeguard children 2019.

  • To be responsible for delivering positive working relations within the wider community and promote the overall outcomes for children within our care.

  • Ensure that the staff have the skills, experience and qualifications required to meet the individual needs of each child. To ensure that consistency of care is provided.

  • To be an inspirational manager, ensuring outstanding leadership of the whole service which supports both children and the team working for the service.

  • Ensure that all required reports are completed in line with timescales. This includes monthly review of the service through monitoring and audits linking into the service development plan, Regulation 44 feedback and ensuring that the Regulation 45 report provides clear evaluation of the service and incorporates partners and children's feedback,

  • To ensure that the principles of equality and diversity are embedded in the culture of the home.

  • To ensure that the child has individual care and care planning which is child focused and personalised to meet their needs. These plans should be reflective of the long-term plan for the child, working closely with the placing Local Authorities.

  • To oversee and manage transitions for any child moving to our home and establish positive multi agency and partnership working.

  • To have outstanding partnership relationships with the team around each child, relationships which are professional and represent the organisation to the highest standards. To ensure that engagement is regularly maintained with all multi agency professionals and where appropriate partners, families, and other stakeholders., Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Single Social Care Inspection Framework (SSCIF), Children's Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Care Standards Act 2000, Children's Act 2004, Working together to Safeguard Children 2019, Health and Safety at Work Act and all associated guidance and regulations.

  • Policies and procedures pertaining to running a residential children's home.

  • Child protections, safeguarding children, impact of abuse and neglect, education, and health needs of looked after children, equality and diversity and children's rights.

  • Care and placement planning, risk, and review processes

  • Understanding of the education, health, social, emotional and psychological needs of looked after children and young people and how to ensure their needs are met.

    Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children's Residential, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing personal development.


  • Experience
  • 2 years' experience working with children in the last 5 years.

  • Supervision or management experience.

  • Working with children, young people, and their families.

  • Work in a residential setting.
