Full Job Description

Royal HaskoningDHV has been connecting people for 140 years. Together, through our expertise and passion, we have helped contribute to a better society and improved people's lives with work underpinned by our sustainable values and goals. We are an independent international consultancy and engineering company leading the way in sustainability and innovation.

In 2020, Royal HaskoningDHV and Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) joined forces, making available a deeper, richer source of skills, resources, ideas and expertise to our clients. ITP is now a fully integrated advisory group within Royal HaskoningDHV and we strive to work together with our clients on sustainable transport planning, both in the UK and overseas. We challenge each other to achieve our ambition to 'Enhance Society Together'. We employ the very best transport planners and provide an environment in which people can flourish and develop fulfilling careers.

We are now looking to recruit a motivated and experienced transport planner at Principal Consultant level to join our Public Transport Team. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, people-orientated individual with specialist knowledge and experience of bus operations and a passion for improving public transport in the UK. You will be given the opportunity to accelerate your career by working alongside industry experts, within an inclusive and caring company environment.

We expect the right candidate to be experienced in:

  • Bus operations and/or network planning in the UK

  • Designing, implementing, evaluating, and administering ticketing and/or concessionary travel schemes

  • Managing sizeable projects to scope and budget

  • Knowledge and skills to extract and analyse data sets to derive valuable insights

  • The use of GIS mapping software and analysis of its outputs

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, helping to secure new work

  • Inspiring and developing less-experienced members of staff by freely sharing knowledge

  • Contributing to other projects across the advisory group as required

  • The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing public transport projects in the UK

  • A deep understanding of transport policy and current issues and creative approaches to dealing with them

  • A growing network of industry contacts and positive client referrals

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

  • Excellent report-writing skills

  • Ability to manage several projects at once, delivering to time and budget

  • Ability to communicate detailed data analysis in an accessible way to a variety of clients/colleagues

  • What we can offer you:

Ambitious. Exciting. Lively. Collaborative. Dynamic. That's how our colleagues describe our company. Want to contribute to enhancing society with your expertise? Be part of an open network where you're connected with the brightest and smartest people and technologies? Join us!

We have flexible working models to ensure a balance of family and working life. The role is part time (although could scale to full time in the future if the candidate wishes). At 25-30 hours over Monday to Friday this could allow working within school hours for example.

The Crown Estate Managing Agent team provide a wide range of services to our customer (The Crown Estate) including all aspects of asset management and commercial advice.
  • Generous Annual Leave: Enjoy 25 days of annual leave, complemented by designated bank holidays. For extended respite, you can purchase up to 10 additional days. Furthermore, you have the flexibility to exchange Easter Good Friday and Easter Monday for alternative religious observance.

  • Hybrid Working Model: We embrace flexibility with a hybrid work arrangement-a perfect blend of remote and office-based work.

  • Secure Your Future: Our 7% employer pension contributions ensure financial security (3% employee contributions). You can contribute more through salary sacrifice.

  • Health and Well-Being: Benefit from private medical and dental cover (fully paid by the company) and extend it to your family at discounted rates. We also offer life insurance, maternity, adoption, and paternity pay, as well as specialised programs for menopause and fertility support.

  • Travel Perks: Commute with ease using our discounted rail travel options.

  • Peace of Mind: Opt for voluntary critical illness cover for added peace of mind.

  • Retail Discounts: Unlock exclusive discounts through our retail discount scheme.

  • Support Services: Access our Employee Assistance Program and face-to-face counselling services.

  • Career Growth: Explore development opportunities and chart your career path in our dynamic environment.

  • As an employee-owned organization, we take immense pride in our unique structure. Picture this-a path to ownership. Through our profit share scheme, you have the opportunity to invest in the company by purchasing shares. It's a win-win: you save, you own, and you are part of our success story.
