Full Job Description

  • This key role will see you contributing to the business strategy for decision making led by risk data, to enable business growth and strategic expansion

  • You'll be assessing merchant applications, undertaking complex risk assessment while supporting our credit and sales teams

  • This is an opportunity to support a rapidly growing payments business, giving you and your work lots of exposure

  • We're offering this role for a period of 12 months


  • What you'll do

    As a Middle Office Manager, you'll be assessing merchant applications at onboarding within our financial crime and credit appetite in line with approved merchant categories. We'll look to you to acquire frameworks, models and tools to provide insight, and actively challenge risk appetite parameters, validate assumptions and identify new opportunities.

    Day-to-day, you'll be:
  • Delivering an automated decision making process for a decision framework based on data, insights and risk appetite

  • Managing the daily merchant application queue to make sure they're assessed and approved within SLA

  • Tracking the application process to make sure deadlines are met and coordinating any escalations

  • Championing automated decision making and supporting the strategy for delivering a fully automated process for merchants

  • Identifying training opportunities and working with the training team and business management to implement training

    We're looking for someone with an understanding of unsecured lending products and merchant acquiring. You'll bring strong communication skills, with the ability to convey issues and technical information to senior management and influence key stakeholders.


  • Additionally, you'll demonstrate:
  • Experience in either a financial crime or credit risk analysis role

  • Exposure to payments products, processes and risks

  • Excellent analytical skills, including interpreting data and trends

  • Experience of providing insight and challenging appetite and processes where appropriate

  • The ability to drive change to enable continuous improvement
