Full Job Description

We require a Trust Grade Doctor (ST1/2 level) in the Department of Respiratory Medicine commencing as soon as possible.

This is not an approved training position, however you will receive the following;
- Named educational supervisor
- Induction and bespoke new starter induction pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non-approved training positions
- Individual training plan
- NHS e-portfolio
- Appraisal at 6 months and individual access to e-appraisal system
- Support towards obtaining Alternative Certificate confirming achievement of foundation competencies to aid those who want to access a recognised training position in the future.

  • Cardiovascular care at our Cardiac centre.

  • Accident and Emergency at Blackpool Teaching Hospital.

  • Community Midwifery and Women and Children's Services.

  • Clinical research with an 80-strong team of nurses and doctors.

  • Community nursing and school nursing.

  • Recovery and rehabilitation for a variety of conditions including brain injury, stroke and elderly care.

  • Sexual health and family planning services.

  • Wellbeing and lifestyle including mental health services, heart health campaigns, and smoking cessation services.

  • End of life and palliative care.


  • Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Trust is a busy 849 bedded District General Hospital and one of the North West's Regional Cardiothoracic Centres. We have an extremely active Post Graduate, a programme of MRCP teaching and excellent library facilities. Resuscitation Training and medical Audit are established.
    1. Provision of in-patient care for Consultant's
    2. Attendance at Department Audit Meetings (1 per month)
    3. Attendance at out-patient clinics (2 per week)
    4. Discharge summaries and follow-up clinic letters as
    5. Emergency cover on the medical admissions unit on a shift-basis.
    6. Attendance at formal Medical Teaching (1 session per week).
    7. Other duties as directed by the Clinical Director for the care of his patients.
