Interior Vehicle Line Manager

The Program Principal / VLM Interiors is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the full cross functional delivery of a vehicle line program. Working with the Interior PM, coordinating the engineering and cross functional team to align the program delivery for all aspects of engineering, attribute, timing, cost, quality and resource.

Communication is key to align the team and the business to the targets for the program, finding innovation solutions to resolve issues within the team or with the other functional VLM's taking responsibility for your deliverables and reporting out to the business and escalating where required.

What you'll do:

• Define the requirements for systems function and integration.


• Define the boundaries for systems function & integration.


• Manage interface with Styling.


• Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of full vehicle body systems: Cockpit System(Instrument Panel, Centre Console Door Trims, HVAC), Seats, Safety & Restraints Systems, Cabin Trim (Upper Trim, Lower and rear trim, NVH).


• Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components.


• Ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance.


• Work Package Management.


• Design Sizing Analysis: Sub system loads, Joints and interfaces, Materials selection, Bolt calculations.


• Assembly level simulation.


• Cost, timing and mass & attribute balancing, full ownership of QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery).


• Resource Management.


• Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement.


• Ensure that your technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date.


• Mentor and support professional development of all colleagues, particularly junior staff.


• To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.


• To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.


• Lead significant project tasks and/or oversees elements of multiple projects with respect to a functional area.


• Serve as a technical specialist for the organisation in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.


• Serve as a technical authority for complete Interior team across one programme.


• Routinely interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.


• Lead project meetings and delivers presentations.
  
  Degree qualified in an appropriate field.


• Personally managed CPD portfolio.


• Automotive experience essential.


• Significant and proven interior experience, knowledge and experience.


• A 'can do' attitude and are always focused on achieving great results.


• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders & drive towards a common goal.


• A calm multitasker who successfully managed, prioritise and executes against deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
