Full Job Description

We are looking to employ four Insurance Professional Apprentice to be based in London and to collaborate with us on a full-time basis for 23 months.

As an Insurance Professional Apprentice, you will embark on a comprehensive learning journey, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects within either Underwriting, Claims or Operations.

This apprenticeship is designed to provide exposure and development, you will attend and complete relevant apprenticeship learning activities, and other integral training. As well as working closely with experienced professionals who are dedicated to mentoring and guiding you throughout your apprenticeship.

This role is 4 days working and 1 day of studying per week towards your CII Qualification.

Underwriting Apprentice
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders you will provide support and where required take ownership for any underwriting management issues.

  • Handling the regular internal reporting to monitor adherence to business processes and procedures

  • Provide support to the annual underwriting business planning process

  • Administrative duties such as minute taking and maintenance of the LBS inbox

  • Assist with any ad-hoc Underwriting Management issues as and when required

  • To assist with the development and maintenance of processes and controls ensuring good data quality as well as business planning and performance against plan, working with the Finance, Actuarial and Underwriting teams


  • Operations Apprentice
    Collaborating with our key third party vendors, IT, Risk & Compliance and Central Procurement you will provide support and where required take ownership for any operational issues, from initial notification through to resolution. This will involve root cause analysis across various eco-systems, solution identification and liaison with delivery and change teams to agree implementation
  • Undertake annual review of the Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Operational Resilience Plans, to ensure they remain fit for purpose and reflective to meet business needs

  • Undertake an annual review of all corporate insurances held by the MRSG companies and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure all coverages are appropriate and up to date

  • Understand the end-to-end customer journey across the product lines we offer and distribution channels to enable a holistic view and oversight to support with analyses required including as is and to be process enhancements

  • Take ownership of analysis relating to operational issues or process improvement


  • Claims Apprentice
  • Assist with adjustment activities, including review of files, preparation of draft communications and documents, diarising deadlines and keeping adjusters up to date on developments in files.

  • Attend meetings to take notes and prepare action plans based on the meeting outcomes.

  • Work closely with stakeholders including Legal, Risk, Compliance and Reinsurance to address queries they may have and work with them to complete tasks.

  • Assist Project Managers in ongoing project work which affects the Claims team.

    Attention to detail - Analyse situations, diagnose problems, identify the key issues, establish, and weigh up alternative courses of action and produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution.

  • Hardworking individual with a can do attitude - Get things done well and the ability to set and meet challenging goals, create own measures of excellence, and constantly seek ways of improving performance.

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal

  • Willing to learn new skills - Take responsibility for your own career

  • Basic IT skills - MS Power Point, MS Excel, MS Word, SharePoint and MS Outlook


  • Education and Professional Qualifications
  • A-Levels required - including Maths and English is preferred
