The Governors of St Margaret's CE Primary School are seeking to appoint a dedicated, inspirational and ambitious Headteacher with proven excellence in leadership and teaching pupils in the primary phase. Our school prides itself on our friendly, nurturing and supportive atmosphere where children flourish academically, creatively, and personally.

We are looking for a passionate leader who can share and clearly communicate ambitions for the long-term future and development of our school; bringing new perspectives and initiatives to continue our school's current success and build upon our high standards whilst always keeping the child at heart.

Are you:

  • Able to support our school's Christian ethos, vision and values whilst also cherishing the diversity of the whole school and its place in the wider community?

  • A reflective and understanding leader who can guide, support and develop the full potential of our whole school team by motivating staff to maintain and develop innovative teaching and learning?

  • Able to nurture a life-long love of learning, enabling all children to develop and discover the champion within?

  • Able to recognise the added value and benefit of opportunities outside the classroom and foster the best possible outcomes for each and every child? Committed to safeguarding and to the welfare and wellbeing of staff and pupils?

  • Able to promote strong and positive relationships within the School, Church and community?

  • In exchange we can offer:
  • A friendly, welcoming and inclusive school in the heart of Durham City.

  • A close working relationship with the Church and community.

  • Enthusiastic, ambitious children who are eager to learn and strive to let their light shine.

  • A motivated, highly skilled and committed staff team, who are dedicated to providing excellent teaching, life opportunities and unique experiences for our children.

  • An outward looking school that actively supports the development of current and aspiring teachers through our established Initial Teaching Education (ITE) provision and EYFS Central Durham Hub.

  • An active, supportive and experienced Governing Body.

  • A commitment to staff well-being, fulfilment and training.
