Full Job Description

We're looking for a Group Marketing and Communications Manager to oversee, drive and enable all marketing and communications activities across the Group. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference.,

  • Development of a strategic marketing and communications plan, aligned to business plans, people strategy and social value strategy to support key objectives including growth, recruitment, and retention.

  • Manage and develop the Group's media relations and PR activities with external agencies.

  • Uphold and protect the values and reputation of the group, and ensuring communications and engagement is well planned, aligned and appropriately managed.

  • Monitor, audit, and evaluate communication plans to ensure alignment with Group objectives.

  • Prepare, manage, and present complex, sensitive and often contentious messages internally and externally using a range of media.

  • Establish and communicate key messages and objectives to promote a positive image and when necessary, limit adverse publicity using a range of media ensure they stand up to scrutiny.

  • Be the custodian of brand creative, narrative, tone, and guidelines, ensuring consistency and appropriateness of outputs.

  • Content creation, preparing, writing, and editing external materials e.g. employee onboarding, collateral, company presentations, thought leadership articles, newsletters, press releases, blogs, videos, etc.

  • Stakeholder Management, collaborate with stakeholders across the business so they understand our positioning and what our brand stands for.

  • Storytelling, identify, frame, and bring to life stories that brings our vision to life and strengthens our reputation.


  • Create, deliver, and evaluate internal communications ensuring they effectively reflect key messages and position and promote Group and or divisional activities.

  • Convert highly complex and sensitive information, where co-operation, agreement or understanding is required, and relaying to employees in a way that is appropriate and considered.

  • Support the people strategy with effective internal communication ensuring effective two-way communication and employee voice.

  • In partnership with the People team, support the recruitment, retention, and employer brand (EVP) by raising the profile and awareness of people related content aligned to values and culture.

  • Create, develop, and advise on film/video projects to support project and internal communications.

  • Develop internal communication champions and providing training and support where required.

  • Create, deliver, and evaluate external communications ensuring they effectively position and promote Group and or divisional activities.

  • Support leaders to raise their external profile and create thought leadership content to support their business strategies.

  • Create and produce engaging content (holding editorial rights) of key external corporate publications

  • Work with the CEO, GMT, and senior leaders to establish and maintain a positive profile for the Group and its divisions.

  • Protect the reputation of the Group and its businesses.

  • Work together with the Crisis Leadership team in respect of any public interface following any incident or issue to mitigate the communications and therefore business impact of issues and incidents.

  • Agency Management; be responsible for the direction, output, and performance of PR agency.

  • Custodian of the Group websites, developing, creating, and initiating content, updates, security, and stability.

  • Custodian of the Groups social media pages, ensuring content is engaging, relevant and aligned to key messages, values, ethos, and branding.

  • Provide reports and statistics on website, social media, and communication performance, advising on search engine optimisation.

    Its essential you have demonstrable experience in all areas of marketing, PR and internal communications. A self starter, you will be versatile and able to build relationships across a broad spectrum of leaders and businesses and have a broader awareness of the economic and political landscape, and how it may impact the Group from a marketing and communications perspective. We are looking for someone who,

  • Has a high degree of autonomy, making decisions, as appropriate, which may have a significant impact on the Group's reputation.

  • Is experienced in assessing challenges and risk in order effect appropriate decision making.

  • Is able to build good relationships across a broad spectrum of stakeholders.

  • Is able to speak with authority on the on and offline media landscape in relation to the business.

  • Understands laws and regulations surrounding the function and its outputs, including copyright, GDPR and digital compliance.

  • Is able to demonstrate business continuity and crisis management experience.

  • Has knowledge and experience in segmenting audiences and assessing traits to deliver successful campaigns.

  • Has excellent written communications skills, including copy writing and ability to write for different audiences across internal, press, digital and print media.

  • Has the ability to proactively work with and contract manage external agency resource.

  • Ideally has a relevant degree / professional qualification desirable or equivalent relevant experience (although not essential)

  • Ideally is a member of professional bodies desirable i.e. CIPR or CIM.
