What you'll do
As the GM Project Lead for Sainsbury's Plan for Better, your primary responsibility is to lead and drive forward the plan against key sustainability targets for the division. You will develop and implement an annual roadmap to improve the Ways of Working of the Technical and Ethical (T & E) Function, partnering with the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR & S) team and aligning with the GM Leadership team on approach and policy development. You will ensure training and group updates are provided across the GM Commercial Team, acting as the key interface on Plan for Better action plans and commentary updates while closely collaborating with the CR & S, Commercial, and T & E teams. Additionally, you will build strong relationships with suppliers and third-party partners, facilitate briefings and regular updates, and oversee the reporting and governance approach for the GM division. Your role also involves coaching and developing the T & E Leadership team to create
a high-performing and customer-centric team. Overall, your focus will be on delivering against sustainability plans, enhancing ways of working, and ensuring alignment with company values.

Environmental / Ethical / Stainability understanding having working in similar organisations previously leading on these topics
Strongly developed leadership, people and communication skills
Project management - experience of leading large change initiative with multiple stakeholders and budgets
Experience of influencing leaders/SLT/managers/peers on complex topics
Critical thinking - clear ability to analyse and interpret complex information
Risk assessment and management
Prioritising activities with competing priorities
