Full Job Description

  • To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start, Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.


  • To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home-Start model


  • To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme's work.


  • Implement good safeguarding practice in all areas of work


  • Main Responsibilities
  • Provide support to families within the Borough of Kettering, ensuring their needs are met effectively.


  • Collaborate with the manager to deliver appropriate support services tailored to each family's requirements.


  • Conduct home visits, prioritising the dignity and identity of every individual.


  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with families, fostering understanding and trust.


  • Empower parents, nurturing their strengths and emotional well-being for the betterment of their children.


  • Offer reassurance to families, highlighting the normalcy of parenting challenges and celebrating the positive aspects of family life.


  • Ensure adherence to robust safeguarding practices in all aspects of work.


  • Coordinate group support initiatives, including activity organisation and provision of guidance.


  • Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring their training and effectiveness.


  • Conduct family assessments and provide guidance as necessary.


  • Collaborate with the Home-Start team to uphold equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.


  • Forge partnerships with external organisations and agencies to enhance family support services.


  • Maintain accurate documentation of family support activities.


  • Participate in regular meetings and training sessions as required.


  • The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.

  • Experience in social work, counselling, or a related field.


  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse families.


  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.


  • Excellent organisational abilities, including time management and record-keeping.


  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with external partners.


  • Understanding of the challenges faced by families and a non-judgmental approach.


  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.


  • Commitment to promoting the well-being of families and children.


  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of families and the organization.


  • Note: This is a part-time role which requires some flexibility in scheduling throughout the year, including throughout school holidays
