Full Job Description

As the Distribution Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to day operations of the section/department, and for leading and motivating your team. You will guide and support your team to achieve the accurate, on time processing of customer orders, while promoting a safe and efficient working environment.

In addition, you will:
Ensure that the team adhere to company and departmental policy regarding timekeeping, holiday approval and conduct, utilising and maintaining the company system.

Make sure the warehouse is operating within corporate, EU, and local regulatory guidelines, safety legislation ISO work instructions and environmental standards.

Control the movement of goods though the warehouse with the assistance of the Team Leaders and Lead Material Handlers. Ensure that work practices are always maintained and adhered to, and departmental key performance indicators and business targets are met.

Promote and maintain a high standard of health and safety throughout all areas of the warehouse, in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals. Establish and control housekeeping standards though regular monitoring systems.

Liaise and integrate with other departments around the business to understand, maintain and improve the supply chain process for both inbound and outbound flows to our customers.

Maintain communication with your team through daily tier board meetings, engaging with them to ensure awareness of business activities and to understand the challenges that arise. Interact with your peers and management team as required to ensure good working relations, seeking help and support when required.

Identify training and development requirements, establish, and maintain training programmes for all staff in the team, ensuring individual records are kept up to date.

Responsible for planning the servicing and repair of manual handling equipment and the retention of service records. And the replenishment of consumables and packaging.

Utilising the Practical Process Improvement system (PPI) to identify areas of efficiency, profitability, and customer service improvements.

Work flexibly across all areas and shifts within operations and undertake other reasonable duties as may be required by senior manager.

Warehouse experience including knowledge of all material handling equipment.
Ability to plan and communicate by giving clear and concise verbal/written instructions.
Able to react and respond to exceptions within the normal working processes and prioritise accordingly.
Ability to work independently and part of a team.
Experience and skilled in leading teams to meet company standards/procedures and efficiency/targets and to promote and encourage continuous improvement.
Familiarity with lean methodology and experienced in implementing process improvements.
Computer knowledge and skills to include Microsoft applications and warehouse management systems.
