Full Job Description

The Digital Construction Manager (DCM) will self-manage or line-manage Digital Construction Coordinators (DCCs) who are assigned to their projects.
As an expert in the field of digital construction, the Digital Construction Manager is best placed to ensure that the project deliverables and performance expectations are being met. This expertise is a key factor in the successful delivery of projects.
As such, the DCM is accountable for the effective implementation of digital construction processes and technology strategy on their projects and for the performance of these project resources, ensuring the successful delivery of our projects and that digital construction project requirements are being met.
The DCM is accountable for effectively implementing digital construction processes and systems as documented in the ISG Way. Additionally, to tackle all phases of the project lifecycle effectively, the DCM will be required to build strong relationships with project stakeholders and function champions within their business unit.
Key Responsibilities

  • The DCM will be project based and have responsibility for BIM activities and actions for multiple projects.

  • Reporting daily to the relevant Project lead but direct line responsibility being to a Senior DC Manager/ Lead / HoDC.


  • Operational Processes & Systems
  • Support the establishment and ongoing communication of a robust, documented ISG minimum standard across the project lifecycle, in line with relevant industry best practices and standards for digital construction (ISO19650), with appropriate governance and audit procedures in place to maintain consistency and enable a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Drive a focus on continuous improvement across the function, seeking feedback from DCMs/ DCCs and other internal and external stakeholders, working with the other Head(s) of Digital Construction and other Functional Leads to improve digital construction processes and systems.

  • Ensure that ISG operates a lean and consistent digital construction software portfolio across all Business Units, developing a clear outline for the scope and use of each system and ensuring that these software systems are being effectively implemented across projects.

  • Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing a robust digital construction (BIM) delivery process inclusive of core coordination and verification of BIM data, ensuring that all digital construction requirements on projects are delivered throughout the project lifecycle and for project completion.


  • Resource Management
  • Aid in identifying and defining the resource requirements of incoming tenders during the tender stage.

  • Work with the Business Unit and project leaders to ensure that the digital construction project resource aligns with the agreed strategy.

  • Monitor resource allocation and report on project progress, providing feedback to senior staff for utilisation planning and progress monitoring.

  • Work on tenders, building strong working relationships with business unit teams, acting as the digital construction expert, providing support in developing tender documentation, and delivering professional, expert tender presentations as required.

  • Work with project teams to bring understanding around the BIM requirements on tenders.

  • Produce BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and associated documentation in response to the Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and ISG Digital Information Strategy.

  • Develop tender documentation that provides a robust and consistent narrative, accurately reflecting ISG's digital information and digital construction capabilities.

  • Review digital requirements and raise appropriate technical queries (TQ's) / Requests for Information (RFI's)

  • Attend necessary meetings.

  • If necessary or appropriate attend and/or present at Post Tender Interview (PTI).

  • Provide Snr DCM /Lead DCM and HoDC with input around the required resourcing needs to meet client requirements and the overall digital information strategy.

  • Work with Project leads to understand their needs and how BIM can be used to improve ISG's digital information and digital construction capabilities for projects being tendered.

  • Work with Senior Digital Construction and Head of Digital Construction to understand the needs of ISG's clients at the tender stage and look to incorporate feedback and evolving requirements.

  • Identify and support BIM uses through the tender process.


  • Pre - Construction
  • Ensure that project deliverables are being successfully executed and are regularly audited against the ISG Way documented processes to ensure that the core operational output of the function is effective.

  • Accountable for implementation of 3D coordination and verification of information to mitigate risk during the design and construction phases.

  • Ensure model/data issues are being identified and resolved during the pre-construction phase to ensure model/data readiness for project completion, that digital delivery requirements will be met and that legacy issues relating to the provision of accurate digital project information are avoided.

  • Participate in coordination meetings, both with supply chain and consultant's teams, contributing to resolving digital delivery issues.

  • Manage the collaborative issue tracking platform.

  • Work closely with the Information Management (document control) function to ensure that there is a continuously improved approach to handover with respect to the provision of accurate and timely project digital information.


  • Construction
  • Ensure model/ data issues are being identified and resolved during the construction phase to ensure model/data readiness for project completion , that digital delivery requirements will be met and that legacy issues relating to the provision of accurate digital project information are avoided.

  • Work closely with the design manager and technical / building services manager to collect and validate as built model information in preparation for handover.

  • Work closely with the Information Management (document controller) to ensure that there is a continuously improved approach to handover with respect to the provision of accurate and timely project digital information.

  • Conduct regular quality reviews and audits on the information provided to ensure it meets the required standards and project specifications.

  • Generate quality assurance reports at the end of each stage, detailing the status and compliance of deliverables, and communicate these findings to the delivery team.


  • Handover
  • Ensure that all end-of-stage digital deliverables are reviewed, accepted, or rejected by the client and manage any required revisions or corrections.

  • Manage end of stage activities and actions relating to digital deliverables handover and report progress to the project team where necessary.

  • Responsible for ensuring the successful handover and project close out of digital deliverables on their projects.

  • Organise lessons learned workshops with relevant parties at the end of each stage to capture insights, improve processes, and enhance future project delivery.


  • Information Management
  • Work with the Information Management (Document Controller) to support ISG's position on fulfilling the "Golden Thread" of information and ensuring, from tender stage onwards, that digital information with respect to BIM is managed in accordance with our internal procedures to comply with the Building Safety Act.

  • Work with Information Management (Document Controller) to ensure digital requirements are considered when the Information Managers (Document Controllers) are mobilizing the CDE.


  • Performance Measurement & Management
  • Ensure BIM related documentation is up to date on projects being supported.

  • Provide project reporting related to KPIs, which align to ISGs operational and overall business strategy.

  • Support the HoDC to continually review the accuracy and appropriateness of these KPIs, in driving improved performance and value from the function.

  • Ensure that monthly project reviews are addressing digital construction performance metrics as defined by the digital information strategy, including reporting on the staff utilisation targets.

  • Provide accurate reporting of project allocation and provide forecasts on changes or milestones.

  • Routinely review performance with respect to the completeness of digital information in the lead up to project handover, working closely with the Information Management (document control) function to report and resolve any issues and escalating any concerns to the Project Director, HoDC, and Business Unit leaders as required.

  • Support the HoDC to review digital construction performance metrics on projects, identifying trends, intervening where needed and instigating improvements in our approach where possible.


  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
  • Effectively engage with various internal stakeholders, on projects and in other functions, ensuring clear communication of strategy, operations and resourcing decisions and responding to feedback and needs of these key stakeholders.

  • Effectively and continuously communicate change within the relevant Business Units with respect to the Digital Construction function.

  • Interface with external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure that they are also executing their respective roles in delivering our digital information management strategy on the projects being supported.

  • Responsible for actively influencing internal stakeholders to adopt the digital construction resourcing strategy and adhere to the continually improving ISG Way digital construction processes.


  • Leadership
  • Actively engage with the project teams to understand their key requirements and delivery drivers, to be able to effectively provide a valuable functional service to the projects.

  • Maintain an acute awareness of the organisations regional and international requirements as may be dictated by legislation or client needs within their Business Units, as well as any specialist requirements due to the varied nature of the projects.

  • Support the DCMs/ DCCs and intervene to bring projects back on track, where projects are found to be deviating away from the ISG Way documented best practice for digital construction.


  • Talent Development
  • Work with the HoDC to ensure that digital construction talent is nurtured and retained.

  • Provide mentoring and support to the DCCs within their line management or Business Units, ensuring that their professional development objectives are being met on an annual basis.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the projects and Business Units to ensure that the performance expectations of project digital construction resources are clear and being met.

    Relevant AEC qualifications and experience.

  • Strong communication skills, able to be diversely applied to engage with stakeholders at all levels inside and outside of the organisation.

  • Experienced user of relevant tools and technology.

  • Experienced in delivering BIM projects across multiple sectors and scales.
