Full Job Description

Job summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and skilled development worker to take an operational and administrative lead on the development of new activities, workshops, events and support groups in the Parish Hall, Hornsea which are geared towards meeting the needs of young adults in the local community (focus age group 16 to 30s).

Organisational context: Support St Nicholas Parish Church in its vision, beliefs and values through working with young adults aged 16-30s who are members of the wider community. To assist with the church's general community outreach, seeking exciting new ways to engage with young adults to reduce social isolation and improve overall wellbeing in the client group.

Community Outreach:

· Organisation and running of key projects, including:

o Start-up and management of Community Cafe, including recruiting volunteers,

organising training programmes, maintaining rotas, and reporting on impact.

o Develop 'Connect' community project, pioneering new initiatives, recruiting and

training volunteer team members, maintaining rotas, and reporting on impact.

o Develop outreach to young adults and their families in the parish through new and

existing initiatives (e.g. Themed cinema evenings; music events and open mic nights,

'Who Let the Dad's Out', etc).

· Collaboratively completing funding bids, monitoring reports and liaising with partners

· Building relationships with new community partners and other funders to identify opportunities for support groups and further projects.

· Network with other agencies by attending strategic meetings and events.

· Organising special seasonal events targeted to the wider community such as fun days, community workshops, exhibitions, etc.

· Offer practical help and pastoral support to those in need and signpost individuals to other agencies for help and advice.

Administration:

· Recruiting suitable volunteers to support outreach activities and providing ongoing training support.

· Supporting the implementation of Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

· Marketing activities and events within the local community.

General duties:

· Create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the local and wider community and seasonal visitors to the town.

· Attend and engage fully in regular team meetings, including the leading of regular volunteer team meetings.

· Adhere to St Nicholas Parish Church values, code of conduct, policies and procedures.

· Keep up to date paperwork such as planning and review sheets, risk assessments and provide research and statistics to support any funding applications.

· Evaluate and monitor project work, identifying and initiating any changes required.

· Work flexibly so that outreach and core admin commitments can be met.

· Develop the project's local presence in various settings, across the local community, including attending local community events to build awareness of and support for the project, liaising with community groups, churches and other agencies as appropriate to further develop the work, helping to build teams by encouraging church volunteers and members of the local community to become active participants in the work of the project.

· Take part in professional training for development of specific areas.

· Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Vicar.

· Comfortable working in a Christian organisation.

  • This post is subject to the applicant having the right to work in the UK, satisfactory references, a medical report, an enhanced DBS disclosure and undertaking safeguarding training.

    Full time - 35 hours per week (fixed term initially for 10 months).

    Flexible working hours in agreement with line manager to meet community requirements, including some evenings and weekends.

    Salary - £20,225 for 10-month contract to commence 1st May 2024, plus expenses and 3% pension contribution.

    This post includes 5 weeks (25 days) paid holiday pro rata plus UK Bank Holidays. Actual leave entitlement for 10 months will be 20 days plus pro rata Bank Holidays.
