Full Job Description

We're recruiting an exciting Commodity Manager role based at our HQ in Wolverhampton.

In this role you will manage a portfolio of suppliers managing cost reduction programmes, developing our relationship with our suppliers to drive best practice & be an SME for your chosen commodity area.

You'll have excellent stakeholder management skills which you will utilise to build relationships both internally & externally as well as supporting us on our long term strategy.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Lead the management of a commodity as well as developing talent in the team.

  • Support the selection, development, and management of Suppliers to meet the commodity cost and performance goals, in accordance with Collins commodity strategy and best practices.

  • Manage the plan to establish and maintain long-term relationships with Suppliers and supporting cost and performance goals.

  • Manage key negotiations with suppliers.

  • Identify saving opportunities (negotiations, transitions, value engineering projects, etc.) and deliver savings to the business

  • Co-ordinate the collection and ensure accurate reporting of all savings/price increases for their area of responsibility

  • Work with key stakeholders including Supply Chain Directors, Design Engineers, Program Directors and Product Introduction Management to coordinate sourcing decisions on new programs.

  • Monitor current supplier market conditions, technology roadmaps, and identify supply/demand challenges. Support the development and implementation of tactical and strategic commodity plans

  • Develop long-term relationships with Strategic suppliers including at decision makers level.

  • Broad knowledge of commodity management

  • Ability to strategise & focus on long term business decisions


  • Desirable skills:
  • Previous experience of working with optimal supply assurance, flexibility, quality, cost and delivery performance.

  • Excellent written & oral skills

  • Ability to influence at all levels

  • Continuous improvement skills

  • Manufacturing or similar industry experience

  • High degree of emotional intelligence
