About the role: The Business Adviser will work closely with individuals in Tees Valley looking to start or scale up their own businesses, providing expert guidance, support, and resources to help them achieve their entrepreneurial goals. This will include (although not limited to) assessing their business ideas for suitability, supporting with the inception of new businesses, delivering accredited and non-accredited training to enhance skill sets, driving performance within established businesses and providing guidance on business legislation and requirements. Support is delivered via face-to-face, online and group sessions. Role themes: Self Employment Support | Quality and Continuous Improvement | People Motivation, Coaching and Development, · To develop and nurture strong supportive relationships with participants to assess their business ideas, goals and needs, ensuring they achieve their objectives

· Develop personalized business plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances, including startup costs, marketing strategies, and growth projections.

· Offer guidance on legal and regulatory requirements for starting and operating a business, including permits, licenses, and tax obligations.

· Assist clients in accessing funding opportunities, such as grants, loans, and investment capital, and provide support with preparing funding applications.

· Design, develop and deliver workshops via 1-2-1's and groups

· Ability to work autonomously as required and self-motivated

· Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in entrepreneurship to ensure the advice and support provided to clients is current and relevant.

· Offer expertise in market research and analysis to help clients identify their target audience, assess competition, and develop effective positioning strategies.

· Maintain accurate records of participant interactions, progress, and outcomes, to ensure audit and quality assurance that meets the needs of the contract

· Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the self-employment advisory services offered, incorporating feedback from clients and stakeholders as appropriate.

· Maintain the highest standards of participant care at all times.

· Complete all company documentation required as part of the role accurately and timeously

· Embrace a culture of continuous improvement and openly share and promote best practice between colleagues and partners, striving for excellence across all areas of delivery

· Provide ongoing support and mentorship to clients throughout the startup and scaling process, offering encouragement, troubleshooting assistance, and strategic advice.

· Connect clients with relevant networking opportunities, industry contacts, and support organizations to help them expand their professional network and access additional resources.

· Establish and develop links with organisations who may be supporting or hosting potential participants and establish a presence where appropriate to stimulate programme starts

· To motivate and focus participants to positively engage in personal action planning and subsequent actions to support a progressive plan towards building their business.

· To provide advice, guidance and support to participants supporting their transition in to self-employment

This is not an exhaustive list, additional duties may be required as deemed necessary by Triage.

· Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, supporting individuals to gain self-employment objectives.

· Understanding of how to compile a business plan, including how to compile and review financial projections, as well as assessing a business's viability and the associated risk

· Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to small business ownership and operation.

· Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs, particularly in the startup and scale-up phases.

· Experience of delivering group learning/coaching sessions

· Must have excellent face to face and telephone communication skills with the ability to work on their own initiative

· Level 3 or above SFEDI Qualification or equivalent

    Desirable criteria:

    · Proven experience in entrepreneurship, business development, or small business management, with a track record of success in starting or scaling businesses

    · Self-employment experience through owning and running of your own business

    · Experience in a training, guidance, education or learning environment that supports individuals in business

    · Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver comprehensive business plans and presentations.

    Teaching qualification such as Education & Training, PTTLS, Cert Ed etc.
