Full Job Description

This is a hugely exciting time to join our communications team. In 2025, The University of Warwick turns 60 and we have ambitious plans to elevate our communications and storytelling.

Our vision is for The University of Warwick to be a loved and respected global education brand, recognised as a world class leader in education, research and innovation, locally, nationally, and internationally.

You will play a key role in helping to deliver our vision in line with Warwick's 2030 strategic vision.

We need a passionate, creative, and collaborative communications expert to help us elevate our communications offering, bring strategic rigour to our operations, and continue to integrate our content across channels.

We communicate with millions of people through our channels, as well as driving engagement and fostering a sense of pride in the University with our staff and students.

You will be sitting right at the heart of our communications operation, which is bursting with amazing stories, people, and places. It's a storyteller's dream.

Corporate Communications leads on media relations, social media, employee engagement and reputation management.

You will use your expertise to help raise awareness of what we do and why it matters though our channels and grow engagement with our audiences, fostering a sense of pride in our community, and showcasing our world-leading educators and researchers.

We're a strategic function, which works to give the University what it needs by providing high quality advice and guidance.

A lot of our work is reactive, responding to internal stakeholders and providing service to them. Identifying ways of helping balance these day-to-day service demands with longer term strategic work is an area you will help us address.

This is a complex, challenging and highly rewarding role for one of the world's top universities.

You will have extensive knowledge of media relations, digital engagement, and internal communications - along with other marketing channels.

You understand how to maximise opportunities and prioritise resources effectively.

You have managed teams and empower your people, offering support, guidance and help along the way, building skills and capabilities.

You are a cool head in a crisis and know what needs to be done, and how to navigate your way through a difficult situation.

Working in shades of grey is something you're comfortable with, where priorities can change fast, and you'll need to be able to juggle competing demands effectively.

You will be a pragmatist, who is used to working in complex, devolved environments, and building internal networks.

You're a natural storyteller with a passion for communications, who understands and values data and insights.

And a sense of humour is essential too!

Warwick is one of the world's leading universities for teaching and research. With an absolute commitment to excellence and an ambition to challenge the status quo, we've inspired positive change, sparked innovation, and created opportunity across our local community, our region, the country and the beyond. Our campus, on the border between Coventry and Warwickshire, is home to over 29,500 students and 7,000 staff. It is not just a place of study and work but one where you can enjoy sports, arts and culture. You will find The Warwick Arts Centre at the heart of our creative and culture quarter, a sports centre and numerous places to eat and socialise.

We work with industry, to connect with academics and partners around the world, to bring opportunity to our region and our country, and to engage students, staff and communities from all walks of life, all parts of society, all cultural backgrounds.
