Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit motivated, caring, compassionate individuals for the role of Apprentice Healthcare Support Workers.

The Apprenticeship programme offers a full time 18 months fixed term contract which in most cases leads to a permanent position with Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over on date of starting and have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to enrolment.Have a genuine interest in caring for people and be able to demonstrate this within the application.

YouMUST NOThold a degree, level four qualification or above in a health-related subject.

You must not have significant Healthcare Experience

You will be required to undertake

Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship

Care Certificate

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Care

Candidates must also hold English and Maths GCSE at grades 9 - 2 / A

  • - E or equivalent and be able to demonstrate these qualifications at interview by presenting valid certificates. With out proof submitted you will not be eligible to commence the apprenticeship.


  • You will benefit from a comprehensive training programme with support in the workplace from the Vocational Trainers which will enhance your knowledge., You must have the ability to work under pressure.

    You will need to possess excellent communication skills and must have a genuine interest in caring for people.You will be required to work in Clinical areas as a member of the team to deliver care to patients in your care.

    There is an eligibility criterion for government funded apprenticeships schemes that applies and therefore applicants must be aged 18 or over and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last three years. YouMUST NOT hold a degree, level four qualification or above in a health-related subject.

    Please be aware that you could be allocated to Calderdale Royal Hospital or Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. If you have a particular preference, please notify us at interview., We employ more than 6,500 staffwho deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals,Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, healthcentres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

    We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children's and young people's services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

    We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.
