Full Job Description
A rare opportunity has opened up for a key player to join the management team in the capacity of Workshop Manager. We require a skilled individual who is able to harness modern technology, implement industry best practises whilst inspiring and leading a well-established vehicle workshop.
This is an integral role helping to manage Bartrums fleet of over 150 vehicle and 250 trailers as well as external customers. The vehicle workshop consists of a team of technicians which is headed by a Fleet Engineer. As the Workshop Manager for our Company, you will ideally have experience and can demonstrate your capacity in a similar role.
This role will report to the Fleet Engineer.
Hours: Monday to Friday with every other Saturday morning. 50hrs per week, Overall responsibility for the vehicle workshop including management of the team, servicing and MOT prep:-
- Manage the OCRS to ensure our fleet of 150 vehicles and 250 trailers remains at the forefront of safety and road worthiness
- Manage business equipment for the safety of staff and customers including but not limited to calibration of equipment, etc
- Manage all fitter hours to workload in relation to inhouse and external work
- Complete vehicle /engineering documentation relevant to the workshop
- Manage the working relationship with all operational departments, suppliers and external customers
- Outsourcing vehicle servicing and maintenance where required.
- Reviewing workshop performance and ensuring delivery of key financial targets
- Development of the existing staff including talent mapping, motivating and personal development
- Further improve and develop the vehicle workshop systems
- Undertaking review of staffing levels and initiating the recruitment and performance management process
- Provide Weekly and Monthly KPI Reports to the Managing Directors where required
- Ensure purchase orders/invoicing queries are actioned promptly
- Drive department changes where required to enhance and develop our infrastructure
Excellent decision-making skills, a high level of initiative and able to prioritise problem solve - Prior experience in a similar role is essential
- Prior use of Fleet Management Systems
- A good ability to learn new IT Platforms and operate proficiently across various software
- The ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Works well under pressure and is still able to inspire and lead a team of fitters
- The ability to work as part of an integral team
- Excellent time keeping, flexibility and attendance is required
- Workshop Manager: 2 years (preferred)
- CPC (preferred)
