Full Job Description

  • Planning, preparing and delivering nature-based health and wellbeing activities for diverse groups

  • Evaluating and reporting on project outcomes

  • Preparing risk assessments and complying with legislation, GDPR, safeguarding processes and applying best practice

  • Promote and provide Forest School experiences which adhere to and apply the 6 principles of the Forest School ethos.

  • Reflect on your own practice, undertake continued professional development and network with other Forest School practitioners and Nature Wellbeing practitioners

  • Assist in Forest School sessions and Nature Wellbeing programmes

  • Assist in the logistics, daily running and working as part of a team

  • Assist in site set up, taking responsibility for equipment and resources

  • Responsible for clear up, storing equipment, and frequent maintenance of equipment and tools

  • Contribute your own skills and abilities under the Forest School leaders discretion

  • Participate in training and other learning activities/meetings as required.

    Experience of working with Adult Mental Health groups

  • Experience of working with Children and Young people

  • Experience of working with a variety of people with diverse backgrounds

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with a range of people

  • Ability to travel within the Lincolnshire area depending on the project locations

  • Good track record of planning, organisational and motivational skills

  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills

  • The ability to work well under pressure and work to deadlines (the Level 3 Forest School Leader course will involve written assignments and a recorded portfolio)

  • A real passion for being outdoors

  • Creative, adaptive and self-motivated with great energy

  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills

  • Resilient to working in an outdoor setting - physical demands of moving a lot, sometimes cold and wet weather.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to change, is flexible and uses initiative

  • Ability to work effectively in a small team

  • Have a full UK driving licence and access to a car


  • Mental health first aid or equivalent qualification or experience

  • Experience of managing small projects including evaluating and reporting

  • Experience of planning, risk assessing and facilitating nature-based groups

  • Teaching qualifications (EYFS, Nursery, TA/HLTA, or Teacher)

    Nurture Nature Forest School CIC inspires a deep and meaningful connection to the natural world through the Forest School process of play, exploring and supported risk taking. Based in North East Lincolnshire, also covering Greater Lincolnshire offering a range of Forest School sessions for families, home-schooling groups, Nurseries, Schools and Special Schools.

    Pay range: £11.44 p/h plus statutory holiday pay

    Employment status: Worker

    : As a casual worker, you will be offered regular shifts to support the following sessions, as needed by Nurture Nature Forest School CIC.
  • Nature Wellbeing Sessions for Adults

  • Holiday Clubs

  • Other events/shifts as required


  • Level 3 Forest School Leader Training and Outdoor & Paediatric First Aid, worth over £1,000

  • Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing for Outdoor Leaders (including Woodcraft for Wellbeing)

  • Other nature therapy courses

  • Paid accommodation in Manchester for the training days

  • Paid travel expenses

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing friendly team at Nurture Nature Forest School CIC as a Trainee Nature Wellbeing Practitioner. Your contribution is valued and your development will be celebrated by our nurturing team of likeminded people.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic learner with an aspiration to start a new career in education in an outdoor setting and someone who loves working with children, young people and adults.

    You will be joining our team of Forest School Leaders and delivering our Nature Wellbeing programme for adults as an assistant, whilst you develop skills, pedagogical knowledge and practical methods of engaging people with nature. The successful applicant will also receive practical training days and ongoing support to complete the Level 3 Forest School Leader certificate and Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing for Outdoor Leaders course with Therapy Adventure, within 12 months.

    You will be encouraged to take areas of leadership and responsibility as your confidence grows, eventually leading groups, within a supportive team. You will be required to stay on for a further 12 months after you have qualified, delivering programmes in Greater Lincolnshire.
