Full Job Description

This role is permanent night shifts and as a Train Cleaner, you'll play a vital role in offering a spotlessly clean train and a welcoming environment for all our customers, to meet Quality Standards set by and laid down by the Cleaning Supervisor/ Cleaning Manager. Not all of our roles are customer facing, we have station teams, TrainCare Centre teams (you may be expected to be able to climb onto our trains from ground level), and on-board train cleaning teams, who all have pride in the service we deliver for our customers and colleagues, as we always strive for excellence; if you would like to be part of team that make this happen, then this role may be for you.
Our trains and stations operate 7 days a week and we complete four different types of cleans within our teams in 24 hours, so it can be more difficult than you may think, but you'll quickly hit that 10,000 step goal.
Don't worry we train you on how to use all equipment and to follow safety procedures. The initial training is 1-5 days in the classroom (dependent on location) followed by practical and on the job training, working with the cleaning team.
If this sounds like your thing, we'd love to hear from you., This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Hoovering/steam cleaning floors and walls

  • Cleaning tables, windows, and touch points, including door controls and handrails

  • Don't forget you'll also be cleaning our cabs, to keep our colleagues working environment hygienic too

  • Removing litter and empty bins on our trains

  • It could also include dealing with any significant cleaning issues, which otherwise left untreated could cause a train service to be cancelled, such as blood or vomit spills.

  • Using specialist cleaning chemicals and equipment, to get rid of all ingrained dirt from all parts of the train - don't worry we train you on how to use these.

Is excellent attention to detail 'Your Thing'?, We are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to fulfil this role. You'll be willing to work outside, as well as on board our trains, throughout the year. You'll also be flexible enough to deal with ever-changing demands. We teach you everything you need to know so you don't necessarily need any previous cleaning experience.

  • If you fancy doing your thing as a Train Cleaner, your greatest strengths will be:
  • Working in a team to get a job completed together.

  • Following instructions and attention to detail to successfully maintain high cleaning standards.

  • Communication to ensure work is not duplicated or missed.

  • The ability to work under pressure, as things can get busy.

  • We like you to have pride in your work and always strive to be the best you can.

We are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals, who are willing to work outside and onboard our trains throughout the year, to join our team of Train Cleaners. Our TrainCare Centre cleaning teams, have pride in the service we deliver for our customers and colleagues, and we always strive for excellence.
