Full Job Description

To work as part of the technical team with specific responsibilities in ensuring that incoming and outgoing specifications are fit for purpose, meet the expectations of both internal and external customers and are safe and legal. Additional responsibilities as part of the technical team to help develop and maintain a robust Quality System that meets legal requirements and complies with customer Codes of Practice and Guidelines. As a member of the technical team, you will be required to ensure that any expenditure within your control will be in line with budgetary limits and approved by the budget holder.

Responsibilities;

· To conduct the administrative aspect of the Technical Department taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of some or all of the following; QMS, HACCP, Legislation, Customer Specifications, Raw material specification.

· Technical kpi generation and interpretation, including, non-conformance, customer complaints, microbiological performance

· Helping to develop and maintain change management procedure and communicating to relevant parties.

· To ensure the customer interface internally and externally are managed professionally and in a timely manner, pertaining to specifications and artwork.

· Involved as necessary in customer audits and visits, with a particular focus as the expert on specifications, artwork, and artwork critical path management.

· To request information from suppliers e.g. raw materials, specs, and packaging and to monitor supplier performances as part of the vendor rating process.

· To work with the technical management team and communicate outstanding areas & additions to standards to ensure compliance with all current relevant standards, COP, and legislation.

· Work with broader site team to ensure any changes (specifications and printed packaging) associated with launches, delists and promo activities are implemented in line with the critical path.

· To maintain department trackers in conjunction with Line Manager, e.g. Spec log, identifying missing information, reporting issues, and following up as required.

· To deputize and support others in the technical team in all tasks as required and be flexible to cover different work, also to be involved with projects as requested.

· To operate in a safe working manner and support the site on continuous improvements relating to health and safety.

· To ensure systems are maintained to give up to date information in product files, factory specifications (including one-page raw material specifications) etc. and to maintain document control throughout.

· Produce product information and technical databases in conjunction with colleagues that establish compliance/trending of nutritional's, micro standards, and customer complaints.

· Initiating investigations and analysing customer complaints responding to any customer with findings

· Maintain up to date technical risk assessments (Raw materials, allergens, segregations, and integrity)

· Formal qualification to HND standard or above in Food Technology or related discipline

· Experience in chilled food manufacturing environment, ideally ready meals

· Experience of dealing with major retailers

· Understanding of food legislation, particularly as regards legal labelling

· Understanding of retail cop's relating to labelling standards and critical path (to launch) management

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Experience in a retail customer facing role

· Effective level of PC literacy
