Full Job Description

The Vicar and Churchwardens on behalf of the PCC of Scotforth St Paul's Lancaster have agreed the job description for the role of part-time Parish Hall Keyholder. The duties will include:

  • To act as a keyholder, carrying out security procedures for the building and grounds in respect to securing the building at the end of the day, including ensuring fire doors and windows are closed;


  • Providing access, where possible, to the parish hall in the event of snow or similar emergency situations;


  • Monday to Saturday Evenings:

    · Empty litter bins and office bin, ensure bins are clean and replace bin liner - take used bin liners out to Eurobin

    · Restack furniture, wipe down if required

    · Mop up any spillages

    · Sweep floors if required - especially on a Friday when no cleaner in on Saturday or if cleaner is off

    · Flush and disinfect toilets (clean if required) - especially on a Friday when no cleaner in on Saturday or if cleaner is off

    · Check and refill toilet rolls, paper towels, soap dispensers, washing up liquid

    · Check and refill hand sanitiser units and white PPE (personal protective equipment) boxes in all rooms

    · Check premises, ensure windows are all closed, lights are out and internal doors are shut

    · Ensure all external doors are locked and secure

    · Use the Communication Book to liaise with colleagues as appropriate and report any issues

    Weekly:

    · Weekly refill gas lighters in kitchen

    · Check dishwasher cleaning fluid, rinse aid and ensure dishwasher is clean ready for next Hirer

    · Weekly fire Alarm Testing and reporting in record book

    · Check supplies of toilet rolls, paper towels, soap, washing up liquid, PPE materials and anything you use in your role ensuring that requests for purchasing are put on the list for the 15th of the month

    In addition to the above: any other such duties as may be required at the request of the Clergy or Churchwardens.

    Qualifications Required: Nothing specific, training and guidance on security procedures will be advised on appointment.

    The Parish Business Manager will be the post holder's immediate line manager with the Vicar and/or Churchwarden's in overall management of the premises. The post holder will be expected to meet with them on a regular basis and to liaise with other church officials in the normal course of his or her work.

    A Confidential Declaration will be required as will a DBS clearance check., The above form sets out the area of work in which duties will generally be focussed, and gives an example of the type of duties that the post holder could be asked to carry out. Please note that this is for guidance only. Post holders are expected to be flexible and to carry out different duties as required.

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred), Customer service/relevant: 1 year (preferred)

    Hours of Work: 6 hours a week (Monday to Saturday), 1 hour per day, to meet the needs of the premises (time will vary [with notice] subject to bookings so flexibility is an essential requirement)


  • Responsible to: Vicar and Churchwardens

    Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks per annum (pro-rata)

    Salary: £12.00 per hour - the Real Living Wage, Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

    Pay: £12.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 6 per week
