Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for providing scientific / medical support to internal and external customers in response to clinical interest from partners. Deliver the sharing of knowledge to internal collaborators e.g., through provision of training to help to ensure the highest standards of brand/therapy expertise in customer facing teams. Provide insights to the UK Medical Affairs (MAF) team and respective Country Value Team (CVT) to help optimize brand/therapy medical strategy. This is a field base MSL position, working in a team of MSL's., The Senior MSL will report to the UK Oncology Medical Lead and will play a critical field-based role within the Oncology franchises, with a chance to define a real difference to the growing therapy area.   • Serves as clinical and scientific expert internally and externally through in-depth knowledge.

  • Maintain up-to-date scientific expertise with regular attendance at key scientific / clinical conferences and training sessions to translate data into applicable knowledge and communication platform

  • Respond appropriately to unsolicited requests for information and/or data

  • Disseminate, review and present clinical and scientific data in a balanced, candid manner, to Leading Specialist and other Health Care Professionals (HCPs), in group and one-on-one settings (virtual and/or in-person meetings)

  • The MSL involves extensive travel including appointments and meetings across their territory, as well as national and international conferences and meetings in the affiliate office on a regular basis

  • Build positive relationships with HCPs based on scientific credibility

  • Develop scientific communication materials (e.g. slide presentations) for dissemination to HCPs through contacts and meetings and provide congress support.

  • Ensure a regional scientific leadership strategy via trustworthy and informed scientific dialogue with Leading Specialists (LS)

  • Accountable for relationships with all LS within their region (development and sustainability through clear LS engagement plans)

  • Lead/participate in medical and scientific forums (i.e., ad boards and CMEs) where LS are involved. Work closely with Medical Lead to develop ideas and content for medical events and review such content

  • Support Phase IIIB/IV local; global clinical development program and data collection initiatives. Critical contributor to regional site identification, patient enrolment, and follow-up visits. Assist in research collaboration with investigators

  • Support investigator-initiated studies by assessing research requests, aligning with Janssen's research needs.

  • Provide expert clinical consultation and support to business partners (i.e., Market Access, Medical Education, Sales, and Marketing etc. as appropriate) to facilitate ongoing exchange of clinical information

  • Develop and implement data/insights analysis and report to Medical Lead on a regular basis.

  • Provide summarized field medical insights to Medical Lead on a regular basis, to influence the Medical Affairs plan which complements the coordinated asset lifecycle plan.

  • Monitors medical research and publications and develops insights. Generates reports on medical trends and assist Medical Lead with the communication of information and insights.

  • Coaches and trains junior MSL colleagues

    The candidate must have a strong scientific background with a biomedical or science degree, a higher (MSc or PhD) degree is preferred

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or research environment is an asset

  • Experience with good knowledge of the UK National Health Service (NHS) environment or oncology is preferred

  • Strong clinical or scientific background and/or experiences in Lung Cancer is highly preferred

  • Consistent track record of contribution to commercial, medical and/or clinical development strategies

  • Demonstrated experience in leading clinical/ scientific programs with a high degree of autonomy, including active member of UK Cross functional brand teams

  • Solid understanding of GCP, R&D code and Healthcare Compliance policies (i.e., ABPI) and procedures is an asset

  • Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOPs is an asset

  • Excellent teammate interested in sharing knowledge and coaching/educating colleagues and peers

  • Critical thinking and positive track record of detailed execution

  • Proven track record to learn quickly, assimilate and distil large amounts of information and build and maintain relationships

  • Shown proficiency to optimally communicate information to Leading Specialists, as well as non-experts

  • Ability to put data into perspective and communicate it concisely, as required

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, strong project management skills and ability to impact decision-making with relevant customers

  • Business insight required, including prioritization skills and problem solving and collaborate cross functional working skills

  • Scientific knowledge, curiosity, familiarity, and interest to stay on top of emerging data and scientific trends within the therapeutic area

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multitask and follow through in a field-based role

  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively simplify and communicate sophisticated material to a diverse array of audiences is required
