Senior Clinician

This post holder will undertake duties such as providing line management and clinical supervision to staff in the team as well as deputising for the team leader as appropriate. The post holder will work with the clinical lead and supervisors to be involved with:
+ Ensuring clinical interventions are implemented in line with the latest NICE guidelines for psychological interventions.
+ Protocols and arrangements are in place so that people can be stepped up and down to and from the service as required.
+ Procedures are in place for operation of the service.
+ Clinical governance arrangements are in place to cover all of the clinical activity.
+ Staff are appropriately skilled and trained to deliver the service and to provide supervision.
+ Supervision arrangements are in place for all elements of service delivery.
+ Provide high intensity evidence based psychological interventions for some of the more complex cases referred to the team.
+ Adhere to all clinical policies and procedures.
+ Maintain high clinical standards in all aspects of the work.
+ Provide clinical supervision in the service.
+ Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures, including work with clients deemed as vulnerable adults.
+ Take special responsibility for the assessment of risk in relation to the presentation of clients with complex psychological needs, enabling other members of the service to assign them to the appropriate place on the care pathway.
+ Communicate, in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, to clients, family carers and others as appropriate, information that may be contentious or highly distressing concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care.
+ Produce reports on clients, in a timely manner, that convey the key findings of psychological assessment and formulation and treatment outcome in a way that does justice to the complexity of the problems described, but that are understandable to the recipients of the reports, including clients and referrers.
+ Work in partnership with other disciplines and to maintain links with statutory and non-statutory agencies as appropriate.

The successful candidate will therefore need to be flexible, evidence reliability and demonstrate the ability to cope with a demanding job. The post holder will be enthusiastic, hard working and able to meet specified targets in order to deliver a high quality Primary Care Mental Health Service to the local population.

The service provides stepped care treatment for people with mild, moderate and severe common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
