Full Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Booking Coordinator to support our endoscopy team by providing a patient booking and administrative service for the endoscopy units.
+ To lead and work as part of a team to provide a highly confidential patient booking and administrative service for the Endoscopy Unit.
+ To maintain a high standard of service to meet patient needs and clinical demand, keeping accurate patient records. Precise booking and data entry is crucial., + Using the Trust Careflow Electronic Patient Record System and Endoscopy HICCs database to identify and book day case procedures for patients in line with Trust policies and procedures. This will include contacting patients by telephone or letter to inform of admission dates and relevant procedure information.
+ Ensure procedure bookings are made in line with priority and waiting lists, ensuring patients do not breach Government/Trust waiting times. Identify any urgent requests or capacity issues within the department. Inform the Administration Manager of any potential breaches that cannot be resolved.
+ Ensure patient adheres to relevant medical criteria for each procedure.
+ Book clinics up to 6 weeks in advance, with correct utilisation of urgent capacity.
+ Responsible for cancelling and rearranging Endoscopy procedure lists. Ensuring patients are informed of appointment changes.
+ Taking accurate and precise messages and prioritise to medical staff or secretaries as appropriate.
+ Liaise with the Transport Office to ensure that appropriate patient transport is booked as required.
+ Other administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, ordering supplies, etc.
+ Work with other staff to ensure annual leave is planned throughout the year to enable cover to be provided within the Endoscopy Booking section across the Trust. This may involve undertaking some of the duties of an absent employee or providing support and advice to other employees., If you are an internal applicant there is the option for secondment, all applicants must have the endorsement/support of their line manager prior to application.

+ The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, other members of staff, consultants and general practitioners is essential, as is the ability to deal politely and sensitively with patients and their relatives.
+ This is a busy role with frequent requirements for concentration where the work pattern is unpredictable with regular interruptions resulting in change of task. Regular self-prioritizing of workload is necessary.
+ This post involves significant computer work. Good IT skills are required and accuracy while working in a busy and demanding role.
