Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity in our Operations Team based in Ellesmere Port in the UK. This is a challenging role in which you will specialize in working with heat-resistant materials to construct, repair, and maintain industrial furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and functionality of refractory linings and insulation., As a refractory joiner, your duties may include:

Installation and Repair:

  • Cut, fit, and install refractory linings according to specifications.

  • Repair or replace damaged refractory components


  • Material Expertise:
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of refractory materials.

  • Interpret technical specifications and drawings.

  • Manufacture timber and polystyrene moulds for casting shapes.


  • Physical Tasks:
  • Work in challenging environments, including confined spaces and at heights.

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment safely.


  • Quality Control:
  • Ensure proper alignment and adherence to safety standards.

  • Test moulds for strength and durability.


  • Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

  • Coordinate with other professionals to achieve project goals.

    Previous experience in refractory work or a related field preferred but not essential.

  • Proficiency in cutting, fitting, and installing refractory materials including timber, polystyrene and CNC work.

  • Attention to detail and precision are essential for creating effective refractory linings.

  • Physical Stamina: The job involves lifting, bending, and working in varying conditions.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions during installations and repairs.

  • Apprenticeships or vocational training in refractory work are advantageous.
