Full Job Description

As a Quality Assurance Engineer - Refurb & Site Support, you will be required to live within a 1-hour commute of our Thorpe Marsh refurb centre in Doncaster or our Enderby refurb centre in Leicester as you will support both centres dependent on the needs of the business. Weekly national travel will be required to our other substations to carry out audits and quality checks and you will have the flexibility to work from home for up to 1 day per week dependent on the needs of the business and the requirement to be onsite. The Quality Assurance Engineer - Refurb & Site Support will lead a support function in the site services that provides instruction, training and practical assistance with the installation and commissioning of refurbished assets and the ongoing maintenance and fault repair of committee design switchgear, ABCB and GCB populations. You'll lead on all assurance and audit related activities for the site services ensuring continued operations and maintenance of
accreditations whilst providing cover during periods of leave or absence for the Site Services Manager and Condition Monitoring Team Lead., Ensure completed cross site safety inspections as per the schedule and AMBP120 requirements

  • Ensure SF6 gas handling equipment is maintained/calibrated in accordance with the F gas regulations

  • Ensure refurbishment delivery standards are applied and maintained

  • Ensure continuous improvement methodologies are adopted

  • Lead on corporate audit reviews and external audits maintaining accreditations/continued operation

  • Maintain the quality systems, quality manual and compliance with ISO9001

  • Audit and review site services documentation/instructions ensuring quality and safety standards

  • Lead investigations relating to site services

  • Lead refurbishment R&D activities including the reverse engineering of materials and components

  • Liaise with refurbishment team, Engineering and Asset Management on refurbishment development, SOPs, work specifications and method statements

  • Maintain and control the calibration of equipment along with relevant staff within department

  • Carry out monitoring of work being carried out by the team across the network

  • Engineering level 4 qualification

  • Significant mechanical or electrical engineering experience

  • Experience of line management

  • Experience of delivering performance improvement


  • Desirable:

  • ISO9001 Auditor certification
  • F-Gas certificate

  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualification

  • Experience of quality management systems

  • Project management experience

  • Competitive salary between £49,000 - £54,000 per annum dependent on capability

  • 37 Hours per week 06:45 - 15:15 Monday to Thursday & 06:45 - 11:45 Friday
