Full Job Description

This role exists to support P2i business and the wider Global Product Integration team with the implementation of advanced coating application strategies for existing and new product lines, being mainly responsible for performing laboratory testing, data analysis and creating clear technical reports.

Main Responsibilities

The main aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing and testing of customer samples to demonstrate the benefits of P2i's technology.


  • Developing expertise in the main characterisation techniques.

  • Testing and monitoring of P2i's machine equipment status.


  • Monitor, record and report work via written reports and verbal communication/presentations.


  • Analyse data using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.


  • Ensure work progresses according to plan and inform supervisor if/when problems arise.


  • Help ensure the lab environment complies with relevant H&S standards at all times.


  • Participate and contribute to team discussions.

  • Support technical projects to solve problems and win new business.

  • Support the Global Customer Delivery Team achieve its business goals by dealing with various technical issues effectively.


  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of sub-projects, as required.

  • Machine maintenance/troubleshooting with supervision.


  • Key Relationships and Interfaces

    This role will interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels including:

  • Global Customer Delivery.

  • Research & Development.

  • Engineering

  • Facilities

    Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment.

  • BTEC in Applied Sciences or other relevant Science Degree.


  • Other Requirements:
  • Basic experimental design and data analysis skills.

  • Experience of scientific analysis and Report writing.

  • Knowledge of laboratory work including handling chemicals, and able to work safely with minimal supervision.

  • With assistance of others, able to trouble-shoot processes, procedures, and machine issues.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work in collaboration with the team as well as on own initiative.

  • Good organisational skills including time management and effective prioritisation of tasks. Demonstrable flexibility, adaptability, and resilience plus commitment to organisational goals.



  • Desirable:
  • Basic knowledge in vacuum process, chemical/physical deposition, and materials science.

  • Prior experience in a commercial laboratory/manufacturing environment.


  • Experience of product or process development.

  • Consumer-electronics experience is preferred.

  • Customer/commercial awareness.
