Full Job Description

Ferrero is seeking to hire a Plant Food Safety & Quality Manager at our Alfreton Plant. The role involves implementing essential guidelines to uphold the overall quality within the plant, aligning with the food safety and quality policies established by the Group Food Safety Management System (FSMS).

You will be
responsible for activating measures to ensure and monitor the food safety and quality of products and production processes as per the standards set in Ferrero's static plan and the Ferrero Food Safety and Quality Group (FSQ). Compliance with all hygiene and food safety standards in the food industry is a must. Additionally, ensure that plant personnel receive proper training in Quality & Food Safety aspects.

Main Responsibilities:

As Plant Food Safety & Quality Manager at Ferrero you will have a number of main responsibilities, such as:

Food Safety & Quality Management Responsibilities:
You will ensure efficient and effective quality management in manufacturing, focusing on raw materials, packaging, semi-finished, and finished goods, especially considering organoleptic properties and food safety. You will manage and develop the resources of the Plant Quality Team, emphasizing the "4 pillars" strategy. You will keep track of quality trends within the plant and conduct risk assessments and manage product incidents to maintain safety and compliance.

Ensure the proper implementation and execution of the Ferrero Quality System, including quality certifications and legal standards to ensure marketability throughout the production processes. You will report to the Regiona Food Safety and Quality Manager (RFSQM) on issues related to quality management and communicate with the Industrial Quality Development for project development, continuous improvements, and UK&I initiatives.

You will measure compliance with quality standards across all phases of the transformation process (incoming, transformation, finished product release), utilizing sampling plans, audits, and company information systems (e.g., SAP QM - IPC). You will ensure the effective implementation, maintenance, and application of the Plant Quality System in line with policies defined by Group Quality, including adherence to FSSC 22000 and similar schemes, based on HACCP risk analysis.

Facilitate the application of central standards for IPC and the "Fenice" system to monitor product claims. You will block all non-compliant materials and processes, manage exceptions and non-conformities, and activate escalation processes to the RFSQM following specific corporate procedures. You will ensure that all certification requirements related to quality, ethics, and religious practices are met.

Support public authorities during investigations, controls, and visits, and manage interactions with internal and external authorities for inspections related to quality, ethics, hygiene, and religion. You will define and support central audits, from on-field activities to the development and implementation of corrective action plans. You will ensure all activities respect deadlines.

You will liaise with markets to manage claims and feedback related to perceived quality and initiatives for UK&I. As well as develop and implement action plans and projects to achieve KPIs and provide necessary technical support to production for self-monitoring. Act as a proactive ambassador for the Food Safety & Quality Culture across the organisation, whilst supporting and driving the professional development and talent activities of the local team.

FSZR (Food Safety Zero Risk) Responsibilities:
You will manage the local plan and associated initiatives for zero-risk food safety. verify compliance with applicable central procedures, whilst directly responsible for planning and executing budget activities related to the FSQ Function (Opex and Capex).

You will ideally possess a Master's degree in Food Quality or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in the food quality sector within a multinational environment. Have a strong knowledge base in food safety, food technology, and chemical and microbiological analysis. It would be desirable for you to have additional certifications and skills to enhance your profile. You will benefit from possessing a Lead Auditor Certification and HACCP Level 4. Experience in project management is also crucial. Moreover, strong influencing and negotiation skills are essential for successfully managing and driving change within the organisation.

Additional qualifications that would be beneifcal will include expertise in packaging analysis, principles of statistical sampling and control in the food industry, and pest control. Familiarity with ISO certification schemes (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 19000), private certification schemes, and food legislation (GMP, HACCP, etc.) is essential.

You will be results-driven, with a focus on problem-solving and meticulous attention to detail. The ability to drive results and effectively manage change is crucial for this role as the Plant Food Safety & Quality Manager
