Full Job Description

You know the saying "if you want something done properly, do it yourself?" Well, that's the direction we've taken with our software. We've invested significantly in creating our own internal platforms to manage, analyse and integrate the data we need for the business to run smoothly.

Our Software Development team will continue to be a key factor in our innovation and growth. As Senior Developer you'll maintain and improve our current platforms, adding features and functionality to drive business performance; you will also be involved in development projects to push our efficiencies to the next level.

Enjoy sharing your techie genius? Great! You'll also coach our junior team members as they progress with us.

You will be responsible for:

  • Use up-to-date web technology knowledge (such as HTML, CSS, JS and jQuery) to create and maintain high-performing PHP-based web applications,

  • Craft code that is well-documented, efficient, and leads industry standards,

  • Translate technical requirements into functional solutions that enhance business capabilities,

  • Conduct comprehensive testing and debugging to resolve defects and ensure software reliability across our application stack, and

  • Ensuring our software integrates smoothly with third-party APIs.

  • This a hybrid role, so your time will be split between our Leicester office and your home. You'll work Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, and Friday 9:00am-3:00pm. No evenings, no weekends, and an early finish every Friday - how good is that?

    What you'll bring:

You're proactive, organised and results oriented - you love getting into the nuts and bolts of how existing platforms work just as much as you love improving them, and you can effectively express your technical knowledge to others. You get that great software relies on teamwork, and are just as happy supporting the Lead Developer as guiding the junior team.

  • Expertise in PHP and Frameworks - exceptional proficiency in PHP programming language, coupled with extensive experience in at least one major PHP framework such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.

  • Demonstrated mastery of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and their application in PHP development, resulting in clean, scalable, and maintainable code.

  • Expert understanding of code versioning tools (e.g. Git) coupled with experience with common branching strategies such as GitFlow and trunk-based development.

  • Comprehensive understanding of web development concepts and technologies, including frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as backend technologies like RESTful APIs and MVC architecture.

  • Working knowledge of AWS and associated services

  • MySQL experience essential
