Full Job Description

This is an exciting role for someone who is passionate about Risk management and who can be a key person in ensuring improvements and processes are embedded. We are looking for someone who can work autonomously and engage with all stakeholders to ensure effective communication. Â

The Risk Manager will be responsible for managing risk in relation to FCA requirements, conduct and operational risk, in line with Admiral Policies and frameworks. They will work closely with the other Risk Managers in Motor Claims Risk to ensure that a holistic and pragmatic approach is taken. One which combines the commercial needs of Admiral with our customer centric culture.

They will lead and develop a team (where applicable) and manage the team’s and their own work and projects.,

  • Support, develop and coach Risk Executives, and actively participate in supporting the Executives in the other teams.

  • Ensure adequate quality control procedures are in place in the team and T&C schemes, training plans and development plans are in place

  • Motivate your team to ensure work streams are progressing in line with deadlines and that the work output is of the expected standards

  • To develop and grow the team in line with the four pillars and in line with Claims Risk department’s objectives. Fostering an open and communicative spirit within the team

  • Ensure all team members are up to date with training and development, in relation to IDD requirements

  • Advocate for Claims Risk within the wider Claims or EUI departments. You must be comfortable in supporting and challenging stakeholders where needed, maintain stakeholder engagement and support awareness of risk across claims

  • Work in collaboration with the Motor Claims Risk Management team and take a holistic view of risk management across EUI Claims. Ensuring effective communication with other Claims Risk Managers

  • Maintain your own knowledge and ensure experience is up to date for all areas of your team remit, regulatory and industry changes. As well as keeping an awareness of other team remits in Motor Claims Risk

  • Act as a key contributor to working groups and committees, providing advice and where necessary challenge to stakeholders

  • Take the lead on projects or workstreams, providing a clear, articulated steer and advice to stakeholders. Driving the embedding of risk frameworks and risk management practices

  • Ensure priorities are reviewed regularly and any obstruction to progress, issues or risks are raised in good time to the Operations Manager/Senior Manager

  • Maintain up to date audit trails and evidence of advice given, procedure guides and training documents

  • You will be expected to use quantitative and analytic skills to assess risks, along with the ability to apply those skills across a variety of business processes and departments

  • You will need to produce, collate risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience

    A proactive and eager attitude toward Risk management

  • Ability to meet deadlines as well as producing top quality work

  • An awareness of Risk Management or Compliance practices / FCA regulation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and effective interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work proactively and using your own initiative

  • Self - motivator with a willingness to learn and develop

  • Risk related qualifications or experience

  • Experience of managing a team

    The role is based in Cardiff with a Hybrid approach to working, 1 or 2 days in the office. We will give you everything you need to work comfortably from home.

    We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
