Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Aviation & Engineering department for a Learner Manager to lead and manage an Aviation and Engineering Team

This role will provide operational leadership and management of an Aviation and Engineering employer responsive curriculum in the development, delivery and assessment of curriculum provision that exceed stakeholder expectations.

You will enhance achievement and progression opportunities for all learners and apprentices within diverse cohorts.

You will participate in the recruitment and promotion for the courses in the curriculum area, observe the course and its required facilities in order to deliver an exemplary student and apprentice experience.

You will be able to undertake a teaching timetable in the area of no more than 432 hours annually if required.,

  • To work with Employers and stakeholders in the continued development of the aviation and engineering curriculum to meet the needs of learners, apprentices, stakeholders and employers.

  • To work with employers to gain an understanding of skills shortages and then translate the information into curriculum delivery.

  • To deliver employer engagement and commercial curriculum offer that meets learner and stakeholder expectations and one that;

  • Delivers a responsive, value added, outstanding, efficient and focused experience through all aspects of learner journey

  • Provides clear progression opportunities to employment, further or higher education

  • To contribute to the delivery of continuing professional development within your programme area.

  • To contribute to the development of the Self-assessment mechanisms and development plans of the department.

  • Have an understanding of health and Safety issues related to the programme area.

  • Be responsible for leading, creating and sustaining outstanding provision and ensuring high quality and innovative learning takes place for students through effective monitoring, evaluation and review of effective curriculum delivery models that maximise students' success as defined in strategic targets.

  • To contribute towards the achievement of the College's mission, vision, objectives and targets.

  • A recognised teaching qualification

  • Evidence of continuing commitment to self-development

  • Relevant post graduate qualification (Desirable)

  • A recognised management qualification (Desirable)


  • Skills and expertise
  • Appropriate experience and curriculum knowledge of Aviation and Engineering

  • An inspirational and motivational leader who is able to effectively communicate the vision and ethos of the learning area.

  • Experience of leading and managing within a further education setting or other educational setting, delivering successful outcomes and raising attainment within set budgets.

  • Significant knowledge, experience and innovation in the leadership and delivery of learning and teaching and assessment.
