Lead Interior STRAK Modeller

Join the Bentley Design Team as the Lead Interior STRAK Modeller where you'll work within the Digital Surfacing Team. The Lead Modeller will be responsible for creating surface data, ensuring quality & leading other CAD Modellers (both Internal and External) throughout series production projects.
Whilst working on live projects you will also be required to support Ad Hoc design requests & feasibility studies. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with tools and processes to improve and enhance surface data delivery for physical and virtual properties.
The role offers an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time in Bentley's history to undertake an active role in developing the company's future product portfolio.
Reporting into the Design Manager - Strak Interior, your main responsibilities include;

• Leading & delivery of Class 'A' Production ready surface datasets


• Working with Digital Surfacing Team to react to Ad Hoc Surfacing requests & design/feasibility Studies, delegate tasks and provide expert CAD direction to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget


• Working with internal and external surfacing resources, steering them proactively to pre-empt and react to new requests


• Monitor surface quality & standards, assessing current and developing new tools/processes to be as efficient and agile as possible


• Support and present in Bentley Engineering reviews, representing Bentley Design & Digital Surfacing


• Engaging with other VW Group Brands to develop processes and standards


About the Team
As part of VW Group's 'Success by Design' strategy, Bentley Design (including Digital surfacing) sits outside of engineering and reports directly to the CEO.
Working as part of a combined (CAS & STRAK) surfacing team, the team works closely with all design functions to collaborate with Bentley Engineering in translating design visions and future technologies into 3D surfaces and products.
We are an agile and dynamic team who apply their skillsets across multiple touch points throughout the product lifecycle, be it for show-cars, series production or Mulliner coachbuilt projects.


• Proven production surfacing ability to work in Autodesk Alias or ICEMsurf


• Working knowledge of RPT/Milling, press feasibility, Parametric Design (Grasshopper/Dynamo), VRED and Adobe Suite


• Experience/working knowledge of leading others team in this environment (Theme proposals or Projects)


• In depth knowledge & understanding of the design & manufacturing processes


• Problem solving, communication and influencing skills


• Knowledge of Catia V5 and SeimensTeamcenter


• An Automotive / Transport / Product Design Degree or equivalent experience is required, knowledge of other CAD Software's & German language skills would also be advantageous
