Full Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Laboratory Support Officer will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the laboratory in accordance with all documented procedures and health and safety requirements. This also includes all aspects of housekeeping, ordering, handling supplier deliveries and ensuring that equipment is maintained and in good working order.

Key tasks to include:

  • Day-to-day responsibility for running all aspects of laboratory operations together with working with project leads, scientists, and contractors to ensure efficient workflows are achieved.

  • Ordering and liaising with suppliers for key consumables, reagents, and equipment.

  • Ensure all deliveries are processed in a timely manner and databases updated with delivery details.

  • Maintenance of laboratory stocks including consumables and standard reagents.

  • Management of laboratory equipment. Coordinating repair, service contracts and maintenance with equipment suppliers.

  • Oversee the laboratory waste collections and ensure that all waste is handled correctly.

  • Maintenance and cleaning of the Tissue Culture facilities. Including management of liquid nitrogen and CO2 supplies.

  • Carry out regular quality controls of liquid handling/robotics equipment.

  • Key responsibility in making sure the labs are clean, functional and adhere to HSE standards.

    Excellerate Bioscience Ltd are currently seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Support Officer to join our pharmacology team. We offer a dynamic team environment, working in partnership with our clients to provide flexible solutions for early-stage drug discovery, across a range of different drug target classes and disease areas., Experience of a laboratory environment is essential. Database management (Excel), basic IT skills and strong proficiency in maths are desirable.
