Full Job Description

We are looking for candidates to join our Chemistry department as Nutritional Analysts on a temporary 3 month basis with the potential for the role to become permanent. The department use a range of chemical analysis techniques to determine the nutritional values of food products.

Analyst duties will include:

  • The determination of protein content by Dumas analysis.

  • The determination of Peroxide Value and Free Fatty Acid of fats and oils.

  • The determination of Dietary Fibre.

  • The determination of total Sodium and Potassium content by flame photometer.

  • The measurement of Sulphur Dioxide by steam distillation and gravimetric analysis.

  • The determination of Phosphorus content by spectrophotometer.

  • Keeping quality trend data and AQC spreadsheets up to date.

  • Keeping own area clean and tidy.

    The successful candidates will need to be hard working, efficient, accurate and able to work on their own initiative, with attention to detail and good organisational skills.


  • It is desirable for candidates to have or be working towards a degree in Chemistry or a degree in a relevant scientific subject.,

    Microsearch Laboratories is a UKAS accredited Laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company comprising of five separate laboratories based across two buildings.

    1.30pm - 10pm with a 60-minute unpaid break, Monday to Friday, plus 5hrs every other weekend.


  • The starting rates are between £9.47- £11.64.

    Pay: £9.47-£11.64 per hour
