Full Job Description

Post Title IT Assistant (20 hours per week - six month contract.)

Responsible to Project Manager,

  • Devise support sessions at venues around Sheppey - focusing on Minster as an area to develop this support in.

  • (including virtual delivery) on a group or individual basis, from beginners to advanced abilities as required.

  • Maintain records of sessions, individual progress and skills/activities taught throughout the project to any individual/group.

  • Devise a simple self-help guide for participants to allow homeworking.

  • Provide support to Sheppey Matters project managers for IT and social issues and delivery.

  • Support with the updating of the company website ensuring information is kept relevant and up to date of all delivery work from projects.


  • Salary £13.00 per hour for six month fixed contract.

    Main Duties

    1. Devise and deliver a support programme for island residents to learn and be confident in varying IT levels of confidence and ability.

    2. Manage the loan programme of Ipads and Portals, ensuring as many residents as possible have access to a devise for at least a three month period.

    3. Devise a simple self-help guide for learners - booklet, video, online
    4. Maintain records of learning for every participant including subjects taught, any specific topic (online shopping, emails, banking, Whatsapp etc.)
    5. Establish learning centres for groups and individuals around Sheppey.
    6. Provide support and guidance to Sheppey Matters project managers on IT issues and social media input.

    1. Must be able to work effectively and empathetically with all members of the island's local community.

    2. The post holder must be able to work with a diverse, passionate and demanding team of staff and volunteers covering a wide range of disciplines and locations throughout

    Sheppey. Flexibility to cover other positions on a short term basis or offer a helping hand to a colleague is paramount.

    3. To be able to identify ideas and make suggestions to save monies for Sheppey Matters or handle book-keeping in a more efficient manner.

    4. The post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check., At least one year's experience of working in a charity or community setting.

    Previous experience of IT support to community participants

    Excellent communication skills.

    Good interpersonal skills.

    Be self-motivated and plan work effectively.

    Flexibility, initiative, and willingness to work unsociable hours as and when required to deliver the project.

    Actively demonstrate and consistently apply the principles of equal opportunities.

    Must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.,
