  • Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for an HR & Recruitment Team Leader to join the Xentrall Shared Services team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

    Xentrall Shared Services is a very successful partnership between Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington Borough Councils.

    The Xentrall HR team is made up of Payroll, transactional HR and Recruitment and Systems Support who look after the HR & Payroll system. We also provide these services to other Councils, Schools and Academies across the Tees Valley.

    This is a key role within the Xentrall HR team and is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the service we provide across a range of transactional HR and Recruitment activities.

    You will be responsible for leading and developing the HR & Recruitment team, ensuring the service is provided to a high standard and timely manner to meet both legislative and customer requirements.

    The team are responsible for the recruitment process once an offer of employment has been made, completing all relevant pre-employment checks, issuing employment contracts and processing new starter information to the Payroll team.

    Alongside this, we work with Schools and Academies, publishing vacancy adverts on their behalf on the Council websites, North East Jobs and other external recruitment sites.

    We are also responsible for processing and monitoring ongoing employment checks such as Right to Work, DBS and Social Work England / HCPC registrations.

    You will lead on the monitoring of continued right to work for employees and ensuring the renewal process for DBS checks is completed as required.

    This role involves working to strict deadlines, so you can expect to have conflicting priorities which will need to be well managed.

  • Relevant CIPD qualification or equivalent level of experience

  • Experience in an HR or Recruitment role

  • Knowledge of relevant employment law and pre-employment checks

  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven ability of multi-tasking in a busy environment, prioritising work to meet relevant deadlines

  • Strong IT skills and experience of using an HR / Payroll system

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong track record of engaging with internal and external customers

  • Strong team-working ethos
