An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Housing and Welfare team where you will work across our accommodation locations within our main site on Freeman Street and across Grimsby., This key role works to a 40 hour per week permanent contract with 30-minute paid break per day.

Role Responsibility.

You will have the ability to actively assist and encourage residents in maintaining and adhering to their accommodation agreement and helping them focus upon their responsibilities whilst accessing our service.

With the ability to encourage residents to participate in everyday tasks including basic living skills, education options and skills training you will work as part of a reactive team providing residents with health and wellbeing support through meaningful, engaging activities.

As there may be times when you may be faced with challenging behaviours, a knowledge of restorative practice techniques, good sense, and sound judgement in practical matters, plus a mature nature would be advantageous for this role and key qualities we look for in successful candidates.

If you feel you have the skills to positively support our residents whilst residing here at the YMCA Humber and would like to become a key member of our supportive and inclusive Housing and Welfare Team, we would love to hear from you., The successful applicant will have a flair for writing, be forward thinking and understand the many different methods and channels the Cancer Alliance can utilise to share its communications with a wide variety of stakeholders.

The role will require the ability to plan communications activity and campaigns; developing and presenting complex and sensitive information and messaging to multiple audiences including all levels of staff, public, patients, stakeholders and partners. It will also involve providing specialist advice to staff, managers and patients on communications issues to promote the programme and ensure the reputation of the Cancer Alliance is managed., The role will be responsible to provide advice and guidance that enables residents of North East Lincolnshire to access benefits and maximise their income. To assist with the completion of benefits claims, appeals and reviews, acting as advocate where needed and appropriate.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Advise, assist and support clients who could benefit from welfare benefit advice in accordance with agreed procedures, policies and good practice.

  • To complete applications for benefits with clients in their own homes when required.

  • Develop a caseload and maintain detailed, up to date and confidential case notes and supporting documentation for the purpose of information retrieval and continuity of casework.

  • To act as an advocate to clients in order for them to appeal or challenge welfare benefit decisions and to support them in such processes., Social Prescribing Link Workers connect people with local community activities and services that can help improve their health and wellbeing, empowering people by focusing on what matters most, to them.


  • The role will be responsible for identifying and agreeing actions with participants to achieve their desired outcomes, and support them through delivery of the actions, with assessments and redirection where appropriate.

    Key tasks and responsibilities includes:
  • Working as part of a team to deliver an effective Social Prescribing Service to participants and GPs across the PCN within North East Lincolnshire.

  • Working closely with GP practices, health care practitioners and partners to bridge the gap between clinical services and Social Prescribing.

  • Meet with participants and carry out home/community visits as required.

  • Undertake person-centred assessments to co-design health and well-being action plans with individual participants and identify support needs to ensure maximum engagement and improved health and well-being., Monitor funding forecasting and re-forecasting to inform organisation activity and performance against profiles, to ensure funding is maximised;

  • Monitor contracts, funding and compliance with funding rules for all provision delivered by the organisation;

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of funding body requirements, including all updates, relating to tolerances and thresholds, ensuring requests for growth are met timely and accurately, managing a small team of staff and volunteers ensuring the people who need us receive the best possible service.

  • meeting with our service users and assess their needs, guiding or signposting them to connect with groups within the community or to manage a health condition, enabling them to lead independent lives and improve their wellbeing.

  • liaising with partnership agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and build meaningful relationships.

  • producing and maintaining monthly reports.

    YMCA Humber is a charity that specialises in supported accommodation for over 100 young people in communities around North East Lincolnshire. We also provide education and training, mental health support and youth activities to support young people across the Humber.
