An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Housing Access Officer in the Housing Access Team. The successful applicant for this post will work 37 hours per week.

The Common Housing Register Service, is managed by the Council on behalf of the four Housing Associations that have social housing to let in Blaenau Gwent. The role of the Common Housing Register Officer involves the administration of housing applications as well as assisting the Housing Options Team in relation to the discharge of their homelessness duties.

The post holder will promote an effective and efficient customer focused service to all applicants applying to the Common Housing Register and to our Housing partners., Blaenau Gwent CBC are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced individual to undertake the role of Housing Access Officer.

Essential elements of this role include but not limited to:

Provide advice and assistance, signposting people to appropriate services available including other Local Authority Departments, Housing Providers, Organisations and Agencies.

Work in partnership with the local Housing Providers, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of all aspects of the Common Housing Register and Common Allocation Policy including the management and administration of housing waiting lists and housing allocations.

Work efficiently and effectively with colleagues within the partnering Registered Social Landlords to ensure excellent working relationships are developed and maintained between all individuals, teams and service areas.

To provide a first class face to face customer reception experience for people accessing the housing advice centre.

To accurately input and update housing applications onto the Abritas Housing Management System.

To evaluate housing banding and provide housing solutions. Enabling service users to make informed choices about the housing options available to them.

To update all housing applications and supporting documentation on the housing management system (Abritas).

To log all mail and arrange appointments, communicate and dispense housing advice to all members of the public who submits an application for housing.

To assist the Senior Housing Access Officer to gather the appropriate paperwork for panels / take minutes and ensure that it is produced in a timely manner.

Access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The post holder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
